Please has anyone come across a COCKS or COX family in Suffolk? Walter Henry COCKS married Alice Fanny MEREDITH (at some point they changed their name from COX because they started a bicycle business and wanted to distinguish themselves from the apple growers).
Walter Henry b.late 1870s, and his sister grew up in Wrentham, Suffolk before he moved to Brentford in Middlesex where his father was a Master Builder. Walter and a partner set up their bicycle business in West Ealing. Later Walter went into business on his own converting some of the first models of cars (2 seaters) into family cars (with an extra row of seats).
There was a COCKS garage in Ealing up until about the 1960s when my grandad, Walter's son Bernard Thomas, retired to live in Eastbourne.
If any one knows any information at all about this family or remembers the garage then please let me know.
Beryl.
