I am also trying to find McGuire's in this Cockrum line. My ggrdftr was
John Wesley Cockrum b
July 6, 1864 in maybe Van Buren County, AR, he married Apr 15 1883 in
Washington County,
Ar. and died Apr 25 1945 in Lamar Co., Tx. His mother (supposedly) was
Amanda McGuire who
lived with him until her death May 10, 1908. According to her stated age
she was born ca. 1818.
His father was suppose to have been killed during the Civil War, think
name is Henry, but not really
known. According to John he had no brothers or sisters, but with these
dates that would have made
his mother age 46 at his birth, doesn't sound right to me. Maybe his
grandmother????but he always
called her his mother. I have really reached a brickwall with these
parents, any help would be
appreciated, Ina
I saw that the McGuire line was included with this family. I am working on the McGuire's of Randolph Co., Arkansas. If anyone else is working on that line, please contact me. Thank you,

Hi girls
Am curious as to if any of the Cockrums from Randolph Co. are connected to
those from Fulton and later Baxter Cos. in Arkansas?
Anyone know?
My Smith family intermarried with the Cockrums. William Smith (b1898)
married Mae Cockrum of Baxter Co. While serving overseas during WWI, Mae
Cockrum Smith was murdered; while with child - along with her mother; Ellen
Cockrum at Lone Rock, Baxter Co., Arkansas on November 30, 1917.
The man arrested and tried was acquitted.
Anyone know anything about these Cockrum family murders in 1917 Arkansas?
I have additional information on her line; if that would help. Not
complete, but working on it.
Thanks so much,
Bernie Moore-Knowles
