found them in the inventories of the Coles family back to my gggggrandparents.
But I'm interested in others that are reseaching this side of my Cockrell
family. My family is found mostly in Northumberland, Va. from 1814 to 1920. They
owned land in Ophelia, Va

Thanks for responding Mr. Bledsoe.....I could sure use some help finding out who her family was....I too have seen evidence that her Father was Charles Smith and in one place that her mother's name was Elizabeth. At one time there was a little obituary on the Breathitt County Rootsweb page, under obituaries, for both Polly and Simon. They have been removed. In the obituary it said that Polly's parents were " Charles and Elzabeth Smith and that she had been Born at Rockcastle, Ky, in 1795,
My gg grandfather James Smith was born in 1797, also at Rockcastle Ky. So, I'm pretty sure he was Polly's brother. He always lived close to the Cockrells from 1810 until they died. She in 1855 and Simon in 1856. In 1810, Simon Cockrell and Charles Smith lived a few houses apart in Clay County,
If you can find any more information I would sure like to hear from you again. Wib Smith

Good question. I am a ggg grandson, I know a lot of family history. They lived in what is now Breathitt County, KY, had large land holdings and I know where the home was. But! the only thing in writing that I have seen was that her father was (Charlie Smith). Never have I seen her mothers name or any brothers or sisters.
My grandmother spoke of an Indian great grandmother, I don't know but in later life have wondered if this is her.
