I would like to know if anyone recognizes the following Cockrell. If so, I would really appreciate any info you could share.

I am searching for info on my grandfather Henry Clay Cockrell. This is the only information I have on him from death certificate and tombstone:
Born: Feb. 14, 1869, Breathitt, KY (internet info), Feb. 14, 1860, KY (death cert.)

I believe that James B. Cockrell was a brother or first cousin but do not know any sibling of my grandfather as yet. Appreciate your help and glad to share what little information I have with others.

Sandford was born around 1804 in SC and Elizabeth was born in 1811 in GA. I
think that Sandford's parents are Thomas Cockrell and Elizabeth Huey, but I'm
not sure. I have no information on where they lived, where they born, or
died, or where they came from, so I need some help! I also need info on
Elizabeth Greathouse and her family.
Here's how my line descends from Sandford and Elizabeth:

Cockrell Researchers,
Just a reminder. This list is for your benefit. Your post or query may
assit your fellow researcher. Please respond with the line that you are
researching, A brief paragraph similar to what I have put together
below would give the group an idea of your family ties. Don't worry
about your spelling or grammer i didn't.
My line was first found in Warren Co. Ky. in 1820. Presley Cockerall
was found on Ivy Creek with his wife Margaret (?). They had four sons
James, John, Andrew Jackson and Thomas Buel amd two daughter Eleanor and
Sally. James and John were born in Va. The rest were born in Ky.
Andrew Jackson and Thomas Buel Cockriel both lived in Spencer Co., In.
and raised families there. Andrew Jackson returned to Kentucky and
raised a second family. James died in Kentucky but not before raising a
large family. Most of that family moved to Ill. after his death. John
remained in Kentucky setting up mercantile business in Grayson and
Edmonson Counties. All were God fearing people. I have found church
minutes where all their names have been mention in connection with the
Big Ready Baptist Church.
researchers,
The Cockrell list has an archive feature. This may be new to some of
you. To access this feature logon to rootsweb.com. Scroll down the
screen the screen until you reach MAILING LISTS. Under MAILING LISTS
click on Threaded Archives. This should bring up a new screen. At the
top type in Cockrell. You should see messages on a month by month basis
from 1997 to present. You will notice a period of relative little
activity around 2000. This is partly due to my medical problems as well
as the advent of the message boards. We will fix that problem. I am
better able to be here this year. I need your help but we can get the
board active again.
You will also want to visit the message boards archives to see if any
mention of your ancestors can be found there as well. Good luck and
good hunting. Be aware that if you find some information that the
person making the posting may not have the same address. We can try to
find them for you if you need help.

Cockrell-L List:
Thanks to Tom Cockerel for keeping this list going. Hope that I can
help some one with their questions as I am a new member after several
years absence. Many have helped me.
I would like help in establishing the death date/place/cause of
Lucinda Sirles Cockriel. Lucinda was the daughter of Joseph Sirles
and Martha Roberts. Lucinda married James Cockriel (B 1812 - D 1859).
I think that she died in Grayson Co KY between the years 1852-1855.
I also think that Joseph Sirles died in Grayson Co KY and would like
to know death date/place/cause for him also.
Perhaps some one can suggest sources that I could go to for this information.
Thanks,
Irv Cockriel
