Your Name - Your Home Town - Your email address
Sources will be accepted with the above information. Prefer 12 point letters in Times Roman Lettering. Please not abbreviations! Include all Birth Dates, Marriage Dates and Death Dates if you want them included.
I will happily exchange and update information on your family if I have it. It is best that you submit information in the above format and I will add your information to the book. If I already have your information I will send you the information that I have after I have made your corrections etc. You can check me out for accuracy etc and I will make the necessary corrections.
If I do not have information I will include your data in the book in the Chapter entitled Cockrill Families who left Virginia and went West. I will not accept information that is dated after 1900 as I am now limited to about 600 pages in the book.
I reserve the right to accept or not accept information for the book. Families from the Northern Neck will be give special priority if push comes to shove.
Please do not assume that the attached index includes everything in the book. There are a lot of surprises.
How often do you have the opportunity to add your family into a family history at the last moment? You only have about 60 days. Do not wait until the last minute as I may be to busy to include your family. Remember the early bird gets the worm! (An old Virginia saying!) heh! Heh!
Please do not ask me questions about your family and what I have included. Submit the information that you have for the entire family. I will do my best to include your family information. I will send you a proof before we go to press if at all possible. I will need an immediate response with final corrections etc.
I want to make all the corrections and add what I can before the book is printed; therefore, I will happily exchange information on your family and update the data for the book. Please do this right the first time, full names, birth date, marriage date, death dates and places along with all the children and spouses. I do not have time to do this three or four times.
If you send me a mess I will not organize it for you. I will ignore your email. Sorry! Organize the data before you send it in.
I will still will accept scanned pictures and stories as long as space permits.
Please have mercy on me as I will be buried for the next two months.
I will have only the number of books printed that I receive orders with perhaps 25 additional. If you have family members who might want a copy please let them know NOW while they can still order a copy.
I look forward to working with you to make this a great family history that we can all be proud of.
Thanks
Jim Burgess

Dear Cockrill Cousins, August 15, 2001
Our book on the Cockrill Family of Northern Virginia is nearing completion. As of today I have 450 pages completed not including the index, which I believe will be about 125 pages. My plan is to take the book to the printer on or before November 1, 2001. The printer assures me that the book will be completed by November 15, 2001.
Cockrill Families of Northern Virginia is a documentation of the early families of the Northern Neck of Virginia including Westmoreland, Northumberland, Richmond, King George, Loudoun, Fairfax, Prince William and Fauquier County, Virginia.
Special emphasis is given to the Cockrill family in Fauquier County, Virginia
Attached to this announcement is a simplified Table of Contents for your review.
To clear up mistakes and add your family information I am giving us from August 15, 2001 to September 30, 2001 to make additions and corrects. Accepting pictures and stories if you have them available. Accomplishments also.
To those who have been waiting for years, thanks for your patience. I am certain that you will agree that the book will have been worth the wait. In the last 3 years I have been able to clear up a lot of the questions and document much of the information.
Please send information on your family if you want your family included. Page count may vary depending on how much information you send in. Chapter 20 will be special in that I will include families that do not connect but left early to go West.
I am still accepting new information through September 30, 2001
