Hi Ray,
You may have this info, but just in case not, Mourning Pridgen was the
daughter of Drewry Pridgeon, born about 1757, and his wife Selah Creekmore.
Mourning Pridgen was the sister of Selah Pridgeon, born about 1795, who
married Archibald "Baldy" Cockrell March 15, 1815. This couple was the
great grandparents of my Mother, Melba Dal Cockerell. Her father, Dr.
Lonnie Lee Cockerell told our family that his grandmother(Selah Pridgeon)
was 1/2 Indian, and I have spent much time attempting to determine if Selah
Pridgeon Cockrell had any Native American blood, but have found no proof of
this. The story may have come from a story that the uncle of Drewry
Pridgeon, named Hardy Pridgeon, had a son named Joel Pridgeon who married
Sarah Pitchlyn, who was the daughter of Aiahnichih Ohoyoh, who was the
daughter of Chief Mosholatubbee. Can anyone confirm this story?
Hope this helps you in some way.

Hi Ray,
Yes, I show that Charity Batchelor, born in August 1834, married Elisha
Henry Cockrell on January 24, 1871 in Nash County, North Carolina. His
parents were Joseph Jacob Cockrell, and his wife Piety Pridgen. Joseph
Cockrell was a brother of my 2nd great grandfather, Archibald "Baldy"
Cockrell, who married Selah Pridgen.
I show, as you, that the parents of Charity Batchelor were Berryman
Batchelor and his wife Charity Vick, but I do not have any other data on
them. I have info on other Vicks and Batchelors, but I have nothing on your
line.
I do show that Susannah Winstead, born about 1770 as the sister of my Nancy
Anne Winstead, was married to John Vick, who was the son of Isaac Vick and
his wife Charity Last Name Unknown. John and Susannah Winstead Vick were
also the parents of my favorite named person, Little Granberry Vick, who was
an attorney.
Hope this helps in some way.

I'm attempting to trace a daughter of my GrGrGrGrGrandfather, Edward
Dawson....Elizabeth Dawson, born February 14, 1773, possibly married to
Edward Cockrell. Edward Cockrell was mentioned in Edward Dawson's will
in Allegany County, MD in 1804, but Elizabeth Dawson wasn't mentioned by
name; however, Edward Dawson left a portion of his estate to another
daughter through her husband's name, so assume he left Elizabeth's
portion through her husband's name. (Allegany County, MD borders on
Hampshire County, VA/WV).
I located Edward Cockrell, with a wife, Elizabeth Dawson,
Delaware County, Ohio in some I'net references on a mailing list
archive. Does anyone know the names & background of Elizabeth's
parents?
My Edward Dawson died in Allegany County, MD ca 1794 or 1804;
his wife, Elizabeth, died in 1813. They had ties to Hampshire County, VA
as their youngest son lived there for some time after his father,
Edward, died. Would like to locate the descendants of their daughter,
Elizabeth Dawson (possibly Cockrell) to pool information.
Thank you for your assistance. Pat Pulasky
