Hi everyone, I had this request in my guestbook. Thought all of us
could help her (Shelia Cockrell-Taylor) with her search.
Please send the info to her email address at:

Thank You,
Greg

I was interested in beginning a trace of our family name and found your
site. I really don't have any idea where to start and would appreciate
any information you might could give me regarding any Cockrell's you may
have found in your search in the Mississippi area. My father's name was
Jay Isom Cockrell and he was born in Mendehall, MS. Thank you for any
suggestions you might could give me.

If anybody out there wants to waste a little time, there is a nifty
website:
http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/repehtml/repehome.html
which has photographs of signed religious petitions from Virginia in the
1700's. They are not searcheable by signer's name (tho you can do it by
county). So I have been wading through them (get a life, Ed!) and have
already found signatures of some known relatives (Geoge Hume, John Hume,
Charles Hume, John Jett) and some possible ones (Reno, Glasscock, etc).
I'll bet I find Simon Cockrell there before I am through.
Um, no, I haven't found any Souths yet ....................
