Terry,
Until I started this I didn't realise just how many Cockings there were.
I have the Death certificate but it doesn't show the place of birth.
Regards
C Graham Cocking

Hi Charles
If you have a death certificate this usually gives the place of birth.

I am stuck, has anyone any suggestions as to what to do next.
My ancestor Thomas cocking was born in 1814( I don't know where and that is what I am trying to find out) and died on the 8th March 1871 in Ormskirk, Lancahire.
In 1841 census he was living in Ormskirk married to Margaret Nuttall, no place of birth is given.
In the 1851 census he was living in Ormskirk married to Margaret Nuttall, and his place of birth is shown as Elswick, Fylde, Lancashire.
In the 1861 census his place of birth is shown as Elswick, Yorkshire.
Until I can trace details of his birth, I cant trace his parents.
All suggestion welcome.
Charles Graham Cocking
