Hi Betty & List,
Yes, my husband's ancestors came to Australia. They were Thomas (b. 1814)
and Mary Ann COCKING (nee WILLIAMS)(b. 1816) and their children Thomas (5)
and William (3). The came out on the "Theresa" arriving in Adelaide
3/5/1847.
The father, Thomas COCKING was born about 1782 and married Elizabeth
DUNSTONE (b. about 1787) at Camborne, Cornwall 14/3/1812. Their children
that I know about are (myThomas), Ann, William, Mary & Stephen.
Do you know who the parents of your James COCKING, the elder, are?
Living next door I would think there is probably a relationship.

Hi Bob and List,
My COCKING family is always on my mind and I was looking at the 1841 census
for my Thomas COCKING and Elizabeth COCKING (nee DUNSTONE) the other day at
the library and noticed a family next door that you might be interested in.
I think the two families are possibly related.
The Film isHO 107/142 - Parish of Illogan, District of Redruth, Enumeration
District 11, p. 6 -

I haven't heard anything on this list for a while. I'm wondering if it is
still active or in the back of the minds of all on the list. My focus latey
on my family tree has been on my Grandmother Arlene A Wareham (King). I
haven't been able to find much on her, except what brought me to this list
in the first place. Her Father was Thomas Henry King (also went by Henry T.
King) and Mother was Laura Coombs (also saw Lora as her name). Lora's
mother and father was Richard and Bathsheba Coombs. Bathsheba's parents
were James and Bathsheba (Martin) COCKING. Richard and Bathsheba were from
Central Mine, Keweenaw County, Upper Michigan. James and Bathsheba were
from Keweenaw County, Upper Michigan around Eagle Harbor. Central Mine
has a get-together every summer on the last Sunday in July. The restored
Church is open and has two Sunday Services. The Local Cornish Group I
belong to, sponsors a Tea in the area. It is well attended. Also
happening in the local areas of Houghton and Keweenaw Counties (Upper
Michigans Copper Country now call the KEWEENAW) will be an SETTLERS BALL in
2004. It is a through back to the 1900 when the last "Settlers Ball" was
held. It should bring a log of history back to the area and I'm hoping a
few COCKING relatives. Then in 2007 the CORNISH GATHERING will be in this
area also. I don't know much about that yet, except the Gathering this year
is in Canada.
Well, I was just going to drop a short note, but my typing got away from me.
I'll just say good luck in your searches and let's keep in touch through our
COCKINGs and this list.
