Nancy Veal was the daughter of John Veale. She was born abt. 1800 in Fayette KY. Her brothers were Sampson (married Thomas' sister Frances; b. abt 1795 d. bef. 1840, Chariton Co., MO), James (m. Thomas sister Jemima b. abt 11796, Fayette Co., KY d. 12 Dec 1827, Owen co, KY)Harrison (b. abt. 1800 d. Bef. 05 Jul 1858, Chariton Co., MO, and William (information unknown. (Obituaries state the girls were from a family of 7-8 daughters and 1 son Moved from E. TN about 1798 and Flora was carried in a saddlebag so she wouldn't be dropped as there were cliffs and they travelled by horseback, Celia and Flora travelled to McComb, IL where they settled with their husbands and families. Flora "Powell" named in Daughter Jane Trober Hainline Veal's obit.
In 1818 when Francis and Celia are married, the bond is signed by their brother Shelton Cockrill. The assumption is that John Cockrill is deceased by that time. Also, Nancy Chilton may not be the mother of Francis and Celia or Shelton who has left the area by 1820 when she signs as the mother of Jemima.)
Much of this information comes from Lyman Hainline, descendant of theCockerill Hainlines with whom I corresponded prior to his death.
