Hi Lee - I'm researching the Cockerill family of Thornton Dale in Yorkshire UK - they were living in the same area from the 1500's. In the later generations I have Wallis (or Wallace depending on who wrote the name) Cockerill, the son of Thomas Cockerill (born 1809) and Margaret Peel.Wallace was born in 1853. Wallace married Caroline L'Anson in 1877 and they had a son also Wallace born in 1880. Wallace 1880 married in 1906 in Hull Yorkshire. The thing is Wallace was an unusual christian name - it was in fact the surname of one of the Cockerill brides of an earlier generation and I'm wondering if this could be the family of Cockerills you are looking for. I'm not aware of any who emigrated to the States but this is a tree I am doing as a surprise Christmas present to a friend from her daughter and I haven't really looked at any others than the direct line to her. If I can be of any help let me know - my email is lagrandefosse(a)yahoo.co.uk - if you know when your Wallace o!
r his parents actually emigrated I will probably have their family line on this tree i am doing.
regards Mikhali (Wendy)
