No Boyes here. My Cockerills all originate from the Lubenham, Leicester area
of England. They settled in Australia, and the U.S. in New York City, Ohio,
Utah, and Michigan. Any descendants from that line? Bill O'Loughlin
Hello all listers,
I am the new list administrator for this list. I admin several other lists
and I don't have a lot of rules. When you post to the list, please stick to
matters pertaining to the name Cockerill, please no virus warnings.
I only have 2 ladies by the name of Cockerill in my tree, both married
Boyes men. The first one is Ann Cockerill, died 1871 in Goathill,
Yorkshire, England. She married John Boyes, born 1702/1703, son of John
Boyes and Elizabeth Habert. That is all I know and I would like to connect
with somebody who knows more.
Then I have Elizabeth Cockerill, no dates, who married Bryan Boyes in Sept.
1743, their children where Joseph and Mary Boyes.
Does anybody have any connections?
Ines

Vickers Limited - 1914-18
I used to work in the River Don Foundry and later, the Electric Melting Shop. In my time there the company was called BSC River Don and then Sheffield Forgemasters. I left school and became an apprentice Moulder, I then moved to the Melting Shop, where I worked on the pit side producing ingots. I was made redundant in 1987. My time at this works inspired a new line of research. The company was called Vickers Limited when the great war was fought. The men listed worked for this company and died in service during world war one.
The result of this research can be found on my website
http://www.stannington.webitsmart.co.uk
There is information about the Cockerill family in the ‘Vickers Steelworks’ section
Please feel free to check it out.
If anybody can give me more information it would be great
Regards, Robert.
PS this research is in its infancy so please check the site regularly for new updates
My maiden name was Cockerill and a large number of my family (including my
great grandfather and great-great grandfather) lived in Harwood Dale.
There is more than one Alice on my family tree who could fit the bill. Do
you have any other information on her, age when she died for instance?
If you are interested I will happily dig around in my records and see what I
can find, but something to narrow the search would help.
Regards
Linda
(Devon, England).
