Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Joseph Sherer was the Father in law of Samuel Cochran. Joseph Sherer made a will on 21 October 1776 he died between Oct. when he made this will and the following May.
Samuel Cochran lived on an island in the middle of the Susquehannah River.
Dauphin Co PA was on the East side of said river
Cumberland Co. PA was on the West side of said river.
The STATE of PA holds a map of the orginial patents.
Samuel Cochrans neighbors were:
Capt. John Reed [SR] who married Nancy Caldwell, Son of James Reed
Capt. John Reed [JR] who married Margaret Blythe {left a will Lancaster Co. PA Will book C 1 pps. 461-462} He stated that he lived in Upper Paxton Township
The second man above [JR] or the husband of Margaret Blythe, was the son of the other [SR] or husband of Nancy Caldwell.
In a book "The History of Dauphin, Cumberland, Perry, Bedford, Adams & Franklin Counties of Pennsylvania"
on page 205
It reads....................
"Peshtank was divided into the West Side of Paxton, the South side of Paxton and the Narrows of Paxton..............the taxables and early settlers on the West side of Paxton in 1750 were James Reed {father of Capt. John Reed [SR] above}, JOHN COCHRAN, Andrew Caldwell {father of John Reed [SR] wife Nancy..........John Caldwell, Patrick Gillespie {father or uncle of Margaret Blythe's second husband}................James Collier {the 1st. Lieutenant in Capt. John Reed Jr.'s Co. of The Flying Camp in the Rev. War} Andrew Cochran..................
A Walter Clark and Joseph Sherer signed as witnesses on Capt. John Reed [JR] will
Samuel Cochran is buried in the Dauphin Cemetery.
