I list below a link that provided these two South Carolina marriages.
I wish there was more information about what county the marriage took
place and possibly if Cochran is a surname for Hannah.

"... This series contains two chief types of records. The first is
the marriage license proper which changed its format considerably over

informational content has remained remarkably consistent. The first
part consists of the license to marry signed by the county ordinary
or the clerk of the Inferior Court and contains the names of the bride
and groom and the dates. The second part consists of a certification
on the part of the official who married the couple that the ceremony
did indeed take place. There is also another form called a Return of
Marriage (used only in 1875 and 1876 for statistics which were sent to
the secretary of a short lived State Board of Health) which contains
physical descriptions of the bride and groom, date of birth, age and
other facts..."

Ms. Dell has been deceased for several years. She lived in Elkin, NC. If anyone would know it would be Jerry Q. Gentry, who if he is still living, should be easy to find in Elkin.

Hello,
I remember one of the Cockerham researchers has ties to the Massey's. I have matched a Massey on the DNA project and might have a little info for you, or can put you in touch with the person that I matched.
Please write me directly at butch39(a)valornet.com a we will discuss what I have.
Thanks
Butch

Hi Gail,
Thanks for our assistance. I am working on my husband's lines and I will
post what info I have here . A copy of data that was given to me that was
written by his gt. grandmother, Laura Belle Hurt-Sutton in January 1927.
She was the daughter of Jesse Gillington Hurt , born 27 March 1808 probably
in VA. Jesse G. Hurt married 20 November 1834 in Sangamon , IL to Elenor
Overstreet, daughter of Dabney Overstreet and Jennie Rodgers..
All that is in the data is the father of Jesse G. Hurt is John Hurt,
occupation, farmer, death and birth unknown. Mother of Jesse G. Hurt is
Nancy Cockerham.
No, I haven't searched any census yet and I have no idea what county in VA .
I appreciate any help I can get on this family.
Thanks,
Pat in KS
