Hi all,
Persons have been screwing up my email and the programs I work with. Will get
this done anyway.
The Cockerhams of Anson County, NC. The names of the first Cockerhams into
Anson County are:

Hi,
Thanks for the work up on Cockerhams of NC. That's a lage workup.
I lived your effort, but it does conflict with some Virginia Historical
Magazine articles. Nor does it provide deed, court records, and other important
information. But still a lot of work went into it.
Did the writter mean Spence when he spoke of the dead Spencer in 1622? And
too Elizabeth Rolfe (the orphan) was connected to the 1622 Spencers, and Pierce,
and later the Sheppard family.
A William Cockerham lived adjacent to the Thomas Rolfe family in Surry
County, VA. Is this the William he spoke of ? The Cavaliers and Pioneers has some
information regarding this family and the Spencer family.
In Albemarle County, Va a Jacob Cockerham has some debt problems and I
suspect this is the Jacob I am researching. It does seem that his father may well
be Thomas Cockerham of the 1763 Anson County Tax List.
Did the Surry County Cockerhams leave Surry County (the Devils Swamp area)
and remove into Albemarle County, VA? Sheppard, Hunnicutt and Cockerham seem
all related in some way. Anyone have some of these folks?
Thanks again
Iam
