Sharon, and list,
I am searching for data on John Cockerham, father of Philip Cockerham, and
(suspected son,) Benjamin Cockerham. Philip died 1776, and Benjamin left
the Lunenburg and Mecklenburg area of Virginia, sometime in the 1780s. It
is believed ( but not proven) that Benjamin and Matthew Cockerham Lunenburg
and Mecklenburg Counties are the same Benjamin and Mathew Cockram that
settled in Morgan County. Matthew was a RevWar vet that joined the Rev Army
in Lunenburg. Benjamin died 1816 and Matthew died 1843. The name was
never spelled Cockerham in the Morgan County records.
