Hi....I've just subscribed; for some time I've researched Cocke family with
distant cousin, Judy (Cocke) Blackman of Dallas, TX for our family "tree"
intersected few generations back when my g grandmother's two O'REILLY sisters
from Louisville married same man, Thomas Harralson Cocke. Think they had lived
in Memphis 1870-95 more or less. One of our puzzles is an Uncle of hers,
Richmond Dennis Cocke, 1893-1965 b KY d Lynwood, Los AngelesCo, Calif. He'd last
worked for Farmers Insurance as an agent (checked with them but they destroy
records after some seven years of an agent's departure with them) Family
history indicates he'd been married couple times & had children with first wife,
however we've been unable to locate any details about those marriages. Possibly
the first was in Arizona time frame ?? 1920-40. He applied for Soc Sec card
in Oregon but am unsure of year....perhaps in 1930's. Any ideas for further
search? Thanks for tips. Charlie Murphy near Seattle.
Hi, to all COCKE relatives. I have repeatedly dead-ended in my search for
information regarding the death of my ggg-grandfather, John D. Cocke, son of
Solomon D. Cocke. The time frame would have been early to mid-1870's, the
families then resided in Fayette County, TN.
John D. Cocke was married to Annie Elizabeth Ricketts Cocke, they had two
sons.
Annie Elizabeth Ricketts Cocke remarried in 1875 (I don't have the exact date
in front of me) to L. B. Lamb, local postmaster of the Lambert community in
Fayette County, TN.
I believe that John D. Cocke died between 1873 - 1875. We have been unable
to confirm any specific information regarding his death. Any
information/assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Diane Kyzar
