Was WILLIAM COCKE married to MARY DILLARD or MARY RUTH BORING? Or was he
married to both of them? Does anyone have a marriage date/dates or any
information on them? Thanks. Darlene

Subject: Documentation of David Clinton Cocke to parents.
Hi to all!!! I am new to the List, but recently one of my queries about David Clinton Cocke and Jemima Leach's parents, my gggggrandparents of Scott Co. VA., was answered by Tim Land. He was in possession of a book, "The Bradley-Cocke and Related Families" by Arnold L. Bradley. This was a self-published book for the family, and it was the result of 15 years researching his Cocke line. Only a limited number of books were published for family members, which accounts why none of us who were actively researching David C. Cocke had come across it. It was printed in 1980. Tim's mother's maiden name was Cocke. Arnold Bradley was a cousin of Tim's maternal grandfather.
Tim is a direct descendant of Henry Cocke Jr., who married Lucy Terrill/Terrell, son of Henry Cocke Sr. and Katherine Holt, and Henry is the brother of David Clinton Cocke, which makes David the son of Henry Cocke Sr. and Katherine Holt, grandson of Lemuel Cocke and and Jane Browne, ggrandson of Thomas Cocke and Hannah Hamlin, and gggrandson of Walter Cocke and Mary Mason, ggggrandson of Thomas Cocke and Mary Pearse of Helstone, Cornwall, Eng., and gggg of Thomas Cocke and Ann Phillip, also from Helstone, Cornwall, Eng.
The author also gives an estimated birth date of 1764 for David - the oldest son who was to receive what his mother was left by Henry Sr upon her death. This included Henry Sr's silver-hilted sword(I wonder where that is now?). David's siblings were Henry Jr., Elizabeth, Katherine, and Lemuel.
Contact me for dates and additional information.

wife Elizabeth on 6/12/1637, returning before 1639. William died about 1656.
Were there sons from this marriage and is there any connection to Thomas Cox

Hi y'all!
I'm Kelly, the old listowner, back in action after a too-long hiatus from the
list.
I'd like to thank Charlie Stark for the excellent work he has done as
listowner of the COCKE list for the past many months. Charlie volunteered to
fill in for me while my family made an interstate move and got settled. What
was supposed to have been a summer-only thing turned into seven months.
Charlie is up for sainthood status.
Well, my family is settled now in Powhattan, Brown County, Kansas. If you
need any lookups in that area, just write to me. I am especially good at the
genealogy of the Kickapoo, Potawatomi, Sac and Fox, and Ioway tribes in
Kansas.
The only action I've taken on our list is to remove the tag lines. I'm sure
y'all are tired of the same ten facts after so many months. The taglines
started out as an experiment, to entice folks to tell of the accomplishments
of their particular COCKE ancestors. If I can get ten new facts, then I'll
re-start the taglines.
Let me know what you think.
-Kelly
