Working on a few of the COCKEs who appear in the northeast Texas
area of Cass and Marion Counties. Wondering if these three COCKEs
who appear at the 1850 Cass Co., TX census records were brothers:
W.B. COCKE
J.B. COCKE
G.W. COCKE
The 1850 Cass Co., TX census indicates a birthplace of NC for
W.B. COCKE and G.W. COCKE and a birthplace of TN for
J.B. COCKE. I understand that William B. COCKE married
Theressa Mayberry. By 1860 William B. COCKE is deceased,
and wife, Theresa appears as the head of the household. Also at
the 1860 Marion Co., TX census, Harriet COCKE appears in the
Joseph MINTER household.
Wondering if you have anything at all on these three from
the 1850 Cass Co., TX census (W.B.; J.B.; and G.W. COCKE)?
Would appreciate anything that you can pass along regarding
their migration into Texas as well as anything on their
background?
Thanks.
Tod

I have the book (loaned to me) Cockes and Cousins Volume II Descendants of
Thomas Cocke (c.1639-1697). There are several Benjamin's but I do not find
Mary "May" Cocke. I replied however because my line of Cocke's lived in the
Buda, Austin, TX area and if you can get me some more information I might be
able to find a connection.

Hello,
Thought that I would post again since it has been awhile.
Still looking for ancestors and/or descendants of Benjamin Cocke.
His daughter Mary "May" Cocke, married William Tate. She died in 1910
in Commerce, Hunt County, Texas. I know nothing of her, but she was my
GGrandmother, and would love to find "anything" about her.
Anyone on this list from this line ? I would appreciate any
information!
Thank you!

Looking for William Henry COCKE/COX b. abt 1714 in VA possibly England
He changed his name to Henry Cox about 1734-1773.
He married his first wife who may of been related to the Taliaferro
line of Robert TALIAFERRO III. The first wife produced four sons:
Tolliver/Toliver,Curd,John,Clement COX
The second wife married 1773 Ann MADISON d/o Roger MADISON
Her mother was Elizabeth TALIAFERRO d/o Robert TALIAFERRO III
of VA
Henry COX and ANN MADISON migrated to Charlotte Co.,Va
Were looking for Henry's father and mother. This is the sticking point
in our family. We need documentation to prover Henry changed his name
like a will of his father or deed. Rumor has it that Henry owed money
and changed his name and moved. It would be great to put this one
to rest.
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Any documents just tell
me where their located.
Thanks
Bushy
