Jan..
Time goes by so fast, and I hope you are still around. I discovered that my James Cockburn who married Margaret Acheson in NB was a Scot. He and 3 other ancestors of mine named Lindsay, McIntire and Campbell, were with the 74th Regiment of foote (infantry), which was a Scottish regiment pulled out of India to fight against the colonies in the Revolutionary War. They were stationed at Castine, Maine. They mustered out in Nova Scotia. I am descended from James Cockburn and Mary Lindsay, daughter of John Lindsay, and John Cockburn, the father of James, and Peggy McIntyre. I also descend from the Campbells. The list of those who served in Castine can be found on line by searching for the 74th Regiment of Foote. I have a list of all 11 children of James and Margaret Acheson Cockburn. My ancestor Sarah Elizabeth Cockburn who married John Cramer Towle of Oak Bay, St David, NB, was their eldest child. Some of the others are John, William, Griselda, Mary Ann, and six more. !
I have the complete list, and I can look it up if I need to.
