I am asking for any information however small it may be about my x 3 Great Grandfather David Cockburn the only information I have is that he was a private in the Taranaki Military Settlers in 1863 (so he was round about 20 many of these men came from the Goldfields in Otago or Victoria)he absconded in 1865 and went to live with the Ngati Maniapoto and became Hone Wetere Te Rerenga's "taurekareka" (a nice way to put it would be "man servant")and stories say he had 5 wives and 25 children I am descended from one of these children named Mary Coburn born 1878 in Mokau (she married an Ansell), she had an older brother (I'm assuming he is brother because they shared the same mother & father) Robert Pou Coburn born 1876 in Mokau and another sister named Noni Coburn (who married a Mason)I cannot find him on any passenger lists coming into New Zealand and it's driving me crazy, i would really appreciate any help :) Thanks so Very Much, Deb Embleton
