This is very late since it is now 2012. I am also a DeWolfe, descended from Baltazar Dewolfe through his son Edward. There must be a connection somewhere. I did find out, however, that my ancestors, several of them, came to Canada (actually Castine, Maine) with the 74th Regiment of Foot (infantry); they fought at Castine, Maine. This regiment was a Scottish Highland Regiment and several of my ancestors are on there and they fought in the Revolutionary War on the British side. Their names were John Cockburn, John Lindsay, McIntyre brothers (not sure which one is the father of my great-grandmother (many greats) who was Peggy McIntyre. They were from Argyll and Peggy married John Cockburn or his father of the same name. Mary Lindsay, the daughter of John, was the mother of my James Cockburn who had a daughter named Sarah Elizabeth Cockburn (Towle.) James was married to Margaret Acheson, the daughter of John Acheson and Sarah Elizabeth Adams Acheson, who were from Ennisk!
illen, Fermanagh, Ireland. There is a new book out about the 74th Regiment titled "The Fort." It was exciting reading for me since so many ancestors of mine are listed in the history of the regiment, which is on line. They were in India prior to coming to Canada to fight the Colonies to the south.
