Hello Margaret
I am also interested in tracing my family history. My father was Charles William Cockburn born in (approximately).
My grandfather (whose name I do not have) and also my father worked in the Monkwearmouth colliery. Moved to Wales in 1937.
Charles William Cockburn was one of fifteen children.
I also remember an uncle Thomas Cockburn.
If you can share any information I would be most grateful.
Regards
Norman Cockburn

Jean cockburn is buried in Dunbar, having been married to the then Earl of Dunbar, whose memorial is in Dunbar church.
there is mention of her, I believe, in Roy Pugh's book, Swords, Loaves and Fishes, which is a history of Dunbar.
