John Cockburn (1809-1884) and Elizabeth Scott (abt. 1816-1905) were my husband's great great great grandparents:
John & Elizabeth's son, William Cockburn (1845-1910)
married to Jane Kellar (1848-1939). William had 7 siblings.
Their grandson, Norman Reuben Coburn (1875-1947)
married to Luella Eve Lewis (died 1909). Norman had 3 siblings.
Their ggrandson, (Bert) Norman Lewis Bertram Coburn (1898-1990) married to Evangeline Bessie Keech (1909-1992). Bert had 4 siblings.
Their gggrandson is my father-in-law.
I realize it has been about 2 years since you posted your first message. Have you had any success in your research prior to John & Elizabeth?
I am new to this list.
Aside from my European paternal ancestors I have a large cohort of Scottish
ancestors-
Among which i find George Hamilton of Preston 1565-1606 who married Barbara
Cockburn of Ormiston - she died in 1610.
Her father was a Sir John Cockburn of ormiston according to the Hamilton
pedigree - but I have no other names for her ancestry - can anyone help with
her paternal and maternal ancestors?
Is anyone aware of a bracn of the family who emigrated to France and are
still around as DE COCKBORNE?
Thank you,
Peter de Loriol
