I have a Mary Campbell born approx 1893 in Scotland who imigrated to Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada. On her marriage license, she listed her parent's names as John Campbell and the name of her mother looks like like Mary Cockburn. The spelling is hard to read. I think Mary Campbell may have come over with her family but I'm not sure. I know that they were related to Stewarts in Canada as well. Can anyone tell me if the mother's name is correct and if it is, where they came from in Scotland?
Thanks

I am seeking the ancestry of my wife's forebear Jean Cockburn, wife of Sir John Murray (living 1602) of Touchadam and Polmais, Stirlingshire, and daughter of John Cockburn, of Ormiston, East Lothian. Any help would be much appreciated. I have not yet been able to locate any coherent account of the Cockburns of Ormiston. I suspect that Jean's father was the John Cockburn whose children were tutored by John Knox.

Hello Lorraine,
I am trying to find out about my family in Edinburgh. I go as far as my great grandmother Jane Caroline Cockburn Bunting, wife of Donald Gordon who lived in Lochend Close, Canongate. They separated and eight years later she had a daughter, my grandmother, Jean Esther Stuart Bunting, who's father is not known, born in 1912.
By tracking the Cockburn familiy I may find out about my grandmother's father.
Regards,
Pilar.
