Dear Garry,
I'll tell the Springboks you sent your cheers !!
Thanks for the information you sent. I am a member of the Cornish Family History Society in Truro and SKS did some search for me and found the information I sent to the mailing list.
However, Nicholas & Elizabeth's eldest son, John COCK who married Elizabeth ???? had a son John COCK who married Margaret EVA in Camborne December 1799.I have quite a bit of information from here to the present day.
My great interest would be if Sandra Pritchard could find info on all the siblings as mentined previously. Also would be great if I knew who John's other siblings were (i.e. son on John & Elizabeth ??).
I appreciate your kind help.
Regards,
Glynis

Dear Glynis,
Unravelling the history of your Nicholas COCK may be difficult as there seem to have been a number of contemporary persons with the same name, none of whom is associated with Camborne or Redruth. If your Nicholas was a miner the mobility of his occupation may be another problem.
Have you endeavoured to eliminate all the Nicholases chr over the period say 1700-1730 to find your man?
In turning to the marriage of your Nicholas, it does seem likely on both chronological and typographical grounds that he married Elizabeth WHENNAN or WHENAN at Redruth on 10 November 1750. According to the IGI she was chr at Camborne on 10 July 1731 the daughter of Edmond WHENNAN and Elizabeth JUEL or JEWELL. The Redruth marriage may suggest that that was the parish of the groom (but there were earlier Cock families at both Redruth and Camborne).
I have asked Sandra Pritchard the Redruth OPC whether she has any further marriage information on the bride and groom and who their witnesses were. I shall advise further once I hear from her.
With best wishes - and greetings to the mighty Springboks !
Garry Hooker (in a mild & temperate NZ)

WOW! Thank you......
This is no doubt my family, for the names of the children in several generations following, are all the same.
I have been searching for this very conection for years. Sometimes it just happens that way for a reason. Now I have a new chapter that I can build upon and piece together my families past.
One GG Grand Daughter to Anthony Sr. has the middle name Davy! This information fits like a glove.

Is it possible that your William Henry COCK born Constantine circa 1807 is identical with Henry COCK, s/o Thomas & Elizabeth COCK, chr Mawnan (the adjoining parish)
1 November 1807? From the Cornwall OPC database website (www.cornwall-opc-database.org), it appears very likely that your Thomas COCK (s/o Anthony COCK & Mary DAVY)chr Mawnan 29 August 1762 marr Elizabeth PHILLIPS at Constantine on 20 April 1797. Witnesses were Lydia PENROSE and Alice GRIGG both of whom seem to have been literate. The marriage entry shows the groom as of Mawnan and the bride of Constantine.
According to the IGI children of Thomas & Elizabeth COCK were:
1. John COCK chr Mawnan 4 February 1798.
2. Mary Hosken COCK chr Mawnan 22 August 1802.
3. Anthony (presumably named for his grandfather Cock)
chr Constantine 24 March 1805.
4. Henry COCK chr Mawnan 1 November 1807.
5. Thomas COCK chr Mawnan 5 August 1810.
6. Martha COCK chr Mawnan 20 June 1813.
7. Rebecca COCK chr Mawnan16 February.
There is an entry for a 1695 lease of Tresidder, Constantine (a2a website)to Robert COCK, yeoman, upon the lives of his children Robert, Thomas & Jane - which rather suggests that a branch of the Cock family has been associated with Constantine since then.
Good luck !
Garry Hooker

I have been researching the Cock line of William H b. abt. 1807 in Constantine. He married Catherine Vincent in 1837.
Children;
Wiliam Henry b. Abt 1839
Thomas b. Abt. 1841
Rebecca b. 30 Jul 1843
Anthony b. Abt. 1846
Nicholas Cock b. 1848
Caroline Cock b. abt. 1851
William H's father was Thomas Cock and his mother was Elizabeth.
I do not have any further information on Thomas and Elizabeth and the only sibling I have thus far is William, my GGG GRandfather.
I would be interested in any further history you could provide on this family.
