Hello Everyone,
Am wondering if anyone has any information on a John William Cock, born 1855, St. Ive. I am trying to determine who his parents were. I cannot find him on the 1861 census.
Many thanks.

I am looking for information on the Charles Cock (b. abt 1786) and Hannah Hale (b. abt 1788 in Gwinear) family. Specifically, I would like to find the record of their marriage (abt. 1810 in Gwinear) and the names of their parents.
Charles Cock and Hannah Hale had the following children:
1. Elizabeth COCK bap Gwinear 13 August 1812.
2. Francis Hale COCK bap Gwinear 27 May 1814.
3. Charles COCK bap Gwinear 19 November 1815.
4. Benjamin COCK bap Gwinear 16 January 1820.
5. Betsy COCK bap Gwinear 16 January 1820.
6. Hannah Maria COCK bap Gwinear 30 September 1821.
7. Rebecca COCK bap Gwinear 21 March 1824.
8. Ann Gilbert Cock bap Gwinear 11 Sep 1825
I believe that Hannah Hales parents were Francis Hale and Elizabeth Gilbert (married at Gwinear 15 Jan 1787). Elizabeth may have been born abt. 1767. I am also interested in the Francis Hale/Elizabeth Gilbert family, especially their ancestry.

Hello Nicki,
>From a quick look at the IGI it seems likely that your Charles COCK b abt 1816 was bap at Gwinear on 19 November 1815 the son of Charles COCK and Hannah HALE. The latter seem to have had the following children:
1. Elizabeth COCK bap Gwinear 13 August 1812.
2. Francis Hale COCK bap Gwinear 27 May 1814.
3. Charles COCK bap Gwinear 19 November 1815.
4. Benjamin COCK bap Gwinear 16 January 1820.
5. Betsy COCK bap Gwinear 16 January 1820.
6. Hannah Maria COCK bap Gwinear 30 September 1821.
7. Rebecca COCK bap Gwinear 21 March 1824.
Although the Charles COCK/Hannah HALE marriage entry is not on the IGI (there are gaps in the entries), she seems to be the person bap at Gwinear on 21 March 1788 the daughter of Francis HALE (for whom she must have named her 2nd child)and Elizabeth GILBERT (married at Gwinear 15 January 1787).
Suggest you ask the OPC Gwinear Mary Kernebone (fmkernebone1(a)optushome.com.au) what she has on these families and enquire of the Cornwall Record Office whether there are any Gwinear parish marriage entries or Bishops' Transcripts for the period 1810-1812 which might include the Charles COCK/Hannah HALE marriage.
Good luck !
Garry Hooker in sunny New Zealand

I am looking for any information (especially marriage, birth, death records and ancestry) on the Charles & Alice Cock family of Gwinear, Cornwall, England.
The 1851 England & Wales Census contains the following information:
Charles Cock b. abt 1816
Alice Cock b. abt 1814
Children:
William Cock b, abt 1838
Alice Cock b. abt 1837
Mary Cock b. abt 1836
Possible mother-in-law of Charles Cock:
Elizabeth Michell b. abt 1774
I believe that Alice Cock died around 1848, following the birth of two more children Charles Cock (25 Dec 1844) and Robert Cock (b. abt 1846).
The family then left Cornwall and moved to Mineral Point, Wisconsin, U.S.A. where they continued to work as miners.
Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated. I am also very interested in Charles Cock/Cox (Jr) b. 25 Dec 1844/5, as I'm a direct descendant of his.
Thank you so much.
