Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
To all the American Listers,
I would just like to express my horror and great sadness at yesterdays
events.
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone.

Unfortunately not - the 1851 census shows her as 32 which would indicate
that in 1828 she married when she was 9 years old which is clearly not the
case so she has not been possible to track down yet. I have the 1841 census
on order for Stoke Damerel so we'll have to see what that turns up. 1851 one
does indicate that she was born in Stoke Damerel but this seems a rather
unreliable entry. There are lots of COCKs in Cornwall.
Yes - maiden name was COCK but it is always possible that her mother was
your Margaret.....
This might well be worth pursuing

Hi,
Can you give me dates of birth of Margaret COCK. I have just discovered
that my 4 x great grandmother was a Margaret COCK and do not know who her
husband was. But looking at your email again, her maiden name must have
been COCK and married name Wallis??? My family come from Cornwall - just
next door to Devon. One never knows, perhaps your Margaret was a relation
somewhere. My Margaret COCK was born about 1776.

As well as admin Lust in my house I also do a few surname mailing lists.
I thought it was a good idea as the boards have been stable and working ok
for the past three weeks to enlighten the list. However the servers at
wherever they are thought different. The technicians are working on the
problem.

Hello Listers
During the last few months Rootsweb have been going through a change. The
lists remain to be run exactly as they always have but the Message Boards
have been merge with the ones from Myfamily.com and Ancestry.Com. They are
still free to use and always will be, messages you post there will get a
much wider audience and will be picked up by the search engines.
At the present moment, messages posted to the board are also posted to the
list. This does mean that the amount of mail to the lists might increase and
also thank you messages will also be received which out of context might be
a bit confusing.
Therefore I am asking for your views on
1. Do you wish to keep the Message Board link open? as described above.
2. Would you prefer to receive just the new URL new queries? therefore
giving you the chose to go to the board and view or not, and also cutting
out all the thank you's etc..
3. Have the gateway turned off completely?
The new URL for the message board is

Hi Sharon
Glad to see we have someone to administer Lust - we need to get that under
control!! :-)
Actually neither the URL above, nor the corrected one you sent seem to work
for me. Could that be that they are only availabale for list administrators?
Maybe it's my ISP. Any ideas?
Do they work for anyone else?
Cheers
