Surname: Cock, Williamson, Penberthy
-------------------------
I am searching for info on William Cock (b. ~Liverpool ~1810). He was a
miner and went to Colombia, So. America ~ 1830 under contract with a British
mining company. He married twice: [1] Ana Ma. Bayer in 1832 in Colombia.
[2] Anna Pears(Pearce?) [a widow nee Penberthy who was his cousin]~1850
suppossedly in Montrose, Scotland. Anna and William settled in Colombia.
He died there in 1870. We believe he could have been Catholic, as his children
were quite successful in Colombian politics with the conservative party,
but he could have been Anglican/ Episcopalian.
Family tradition states that his parents, Dick (sic.) and Mary Williamson,
were Scottish, but they could have been from Cornwalls. Searches so far
in Liverpool, Montrose and Cornwalls have been unsuccessful. Not much luck
either with London PRO on passenger lists or exit permits. Any suggestions?
