Hi Nancy,
There are lots of cochranes, but they are difficult to track.
Yes I think so because of the dates.

Small correction - I forgot John and Thomas' brother James, the only one who stayed in Scotland. Subject of an earlier posting. - Nancy

Reposting my interests, specifically two male Cochranes who went to America. Both were the sons of Thomas Cochrane (abt 1733-1804) and Ann Kerr (1733-1789). Both born Paisley, Renfrewshire although I cannot find the parish records. The boys came from a family of 10 children; all the others were girls apart from an earlier Thomas who must have died as a baby. The family bible says:
John Cochrane born 31 March 1758, died 17 Sept 1799 Savannah, Georgia from yellow fever.
Thomas Cochrane born 18 Jan 1774. Retired from manufacturing of crash lace in easy circumstances in Patterson NY.
("crash lace"?)

Hi Jane,
I've been foillowing this correspondence with interest, although my Cochranes are a different line entirely, from Paisley. Just wondering if the 100 year old Winifred was the daughter of Richard George Cochrane? You mentioned a Winifred b. 1883.
Nancy

Hi Pia,
Margaret Alice was one of the 15 children born to Richard and Sarah. I knew she had married Erik but dont have any details other than that.
Robert George Cochrane was born in 1874 (died 1955)and married Florence Gertrude Buysman ((b. 1974) (died 1944)) on 29/04/1902.
They had two children Margaret Winifred Cochrane (b. 1905) she died a spinster in 1984.
My father Robert Bernard Cochrane (b. 1908) married Hilda Rimmer (his first wife) in 1929. They had three children, Patricia (b. 1929), Deidre (b 1934) and Hugh (b 1937). I know nothing of Deidre or Hugh. Patricia married Mike Whiteford in 1952 and had 3 children.
Robert Bernard married my mum Enid Lewis (b. 1917) in 1952 and I am the last one of four children.
Robert Bernard died 1967.
I am Jane Margaret Cochrane (b. 1957) I cant give you the details of my brother and sisters as they are living and I would need their permission.
If you have any information from Margaret Alice down I would appreciate it too. U didnt say who your friend, my relative, is and I would really like to know.
I do have in my possession a letter written to Winifred Lindberg who was born Cochrane on her 100th birthday from her son/daughter. It is written in swedish and put in a paper in 1982 she lived in Stockholm. It said she had a letter from the Queen for her 100th birthday and from King Carl Gustaf of sweden and Queen Silvia.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Jane
