Hi,
I was wondering if you have any information on the other children that you mentioned in your posting. I was curious about the mary that you had listed. I am searching for a record of my great-grandmother, mary cochran/cochrane, I don't know where she was born but know that she eventually married and settled in Manchester, UK. Any information you could provide on the other children would be most appreciated.
Are any of these on your lineage?I am trying to find family members

Thank you. This is were I am stumped. I found the info in the Encyclopedia Brittanica starting with Archibald Cochrane, 9th Earl. Also, the 10th Earl's 'Autobiography of a Seaman' (2 vos., 1860-61), 'Life' (1869 by his son and heir; his Notes on the Minerology, Government and Conditions of the British West Indie Islands (1851) and a 'Narrative of Services in the Liberation of Chile, Peru and Brazil' (1858); and J.B. atley, 'The Trial of Lord Cochrane before Lord Ellenborough'(1897). The 10th Earl had four sons and one daughter.
The Earl's eldest son, Robert, born when Earl was 19 yrs. He may not have been married at the time perhaps that is why he has his mother's family name, I believe from an Auntie. This information is what I am trying to straighten out as Robert's daughter Jessie Houghton is in my direct line. I will pursue the dates you have given me though. It may help in my search. Thank you.

Thomas Cochrane, 10th Earl of Dundonald did not have a son named Robert. Thomas didn't marry until 1812. His wife's name was Katherine Frances Corbett Barnes. Their first child was born in 1814. The only Robert Cochrane I found that was born/christened in 1794 with a father Thomas was: : Robert Cochrane b. 25 Feb 1794; Christened 26 Feb. 1794 Dunlop, Ayr, Scotland s/o Thomas Cochrane and Jean Stevenson.
As far as I can tell from all the Cochrane records Thomas, 10th Earl of Dundonald was only married once.

Robert Houghton b 1794, d 1846, father Thomas Cochrane, 10th Earl of Dundonald, Scotland, Grand father Archibald Cochrane, 9th Earl of Dundonald.
Robert changed name after a falling out with his father about which woman to marry. Robert married Louisa Ellen (last name unknown) in 1812, she's from England. They lived in Ramsgate, England. Children: John, mar. Charlotte, James Henry, Sarah Mary, Frances, Jessie (my direct line), Allen Patrick. I also found Nathaniel George but am unsure of him because is not on ships list. Immigrated to New Zealand on the 'Aurora' Dec. 1839 and settled in Wellington. Any information would help. Mostly loocking for name change information of that time so I can research it. Thank you for your input. Linda

Hi,
I'm hoping that by posting this message someone may be able to help me find a particular Cochrane family. I have only a little information so here goes.
I'm looking for a Bill ( William ) Cochrane who emigrated to Canada from Ireland ( probably Belfast ). He was married to a lady named Banny ( not sure of spelling or what it might be short for ? ) and her maiden name was most probably Johnston. They had at least two sons, one named Kenneth, and I've been told the boys were both teachers.
Bill Cochrane worked for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft corporation in Canada.
I have another Cochrane ( Doug) who was known to have lived in Aliance Park Drive in Belfast.
These Cochrane's fit into my husbands side of our tree. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated as I have so little to go on.
Thanks in advance,
Jan
