I'm not sure if this is relevent but my GGrandfather was a Robert Cochrane Wallace, born in Catskill NY, in 1887(at least we think he was born in Catskill.) His mother was Elizabeth Cochrane. She came to the United States from either Scotland or Ireland.

I don't see an Elizabeth Cochrane in my tree. I do have Wallaces, however. My great uncle was named Bruce Wallace Gelston. My g-g-g-grandmother was Jane WALLACE. She married James Gelston somewhere around 1830 in Belfast, Ireland.

Ken, I have COCHRANEs from Glasgow and, earlier, Paisley. James COCHRANE b. 1771 married an unknown person and had eight children including Margaret b. 1796 who married her cousin Thomas LYLE in Glasgow in 1821 and died in Glasgow in 1854. I have been unable to find any siblings of Margaret (whose birth date was in an old family bible) but I wonder if your Robert could have been one of Margaret's nephews. Robert is a family name. Margaret was my GGGmother.

Hi All,
My name is Ken Quinn and I live in Verdun, Quebec, Canada. My interest in the COCHRANE name stems from my Great Great Grandfather, Robert COCHRANE who was born 18-Feb-1857 in Glasgow, Scotland. On 14-Jul-1882 Robert Married Jean McCutcheon in Glasgow. To my knowledge they had six children (Robert, Sarah Peacock, Annie Laurie, John, Benjamin Hyde, and William McCutcheon). My great grandmother, Sarah Peacock COCHRANE was born 11-Sep-1885 in Glasgow, Scotland and died 06-Aug-1940 in Montreal, Canada. In between, and in Canada, Sarah married Robert J. GELSTON on 11-Sep-1908. Together they had 10 children.
Regards,
Ken Quinn
