I am doing research on the Cochrane Family. My Great Grandfather was Samuel George Cochrane. He was born on March 14,1863 and died on May 31, 1933. He married a lady by the name of Mary Knapp. She was born on May 9, 1875 and died on Jan. 6,1945. My Great Grandfather was well known in the Enfield, Ontario area for Showing Horses. They had 11 children, 9 boys and 2 girls. This is all the information that I have, If anyone has any information that could help me out it would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you in advance.
Hello from Ladd Cochrane. Your notice was interesting in that all the
Cochrane names you mentioned are same ones in my family--we had lots of
James', a few Roberts and at least one William. However the dates are off.
My family came from Campsie, Scotland to Owen Sound, Ontario around 1850.
The one bringing members of his family was a James. He left one son James in
Scotland who was born in 1824 although we aren't postiive what happened to
him. The older James brought another son to Canada by the name of James who
was born to his second wife. The older James was my great great grandfather.
My great grandfather, Peter, married in Owen Sound, moved his family to
Houghton and Hancock, Michigan, and finally to Franklin, Nebraska. I was
also interested that your family name was changed. Hope you find some of
your relatives!
Looking for a James Cochrane 3rd arrived in Main in
the 1700's from Scotland. Died in Maine in 1814. Had 9 children, one of
which was Robert Cochrane, b: 1789 d: 1835, who married in Maine had 7
children one of which was William b: 10/10/1829. William moved to MI and the
name changed from Cochrane to Coffron.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Wayne Coffron
