Dear Leigh,
Sorry I didn't respond sooner. The only connection that I have to South Africa, is that my greatgrandfather, Francis Cochrane, worked in a dye works in Paisley, Scotland and was one of the first men to go to South Africa to work in the diamond mines. I have not been able to find out anything more about him. My greatgrandmother, Catherine Campbell Cochrane, later emigrated to the U.S. to live with her son, my grandfather, James Cochrane, and died in Washington state.
Good luck to you in your search.
Marilyn Studley
