Hi:
Our Cochrane's are from Scotland. We are from Montreal, Canada. We are
decendents of a Lord Dundonald, apparently one whom Horatio Hornblower
was
based on. There was even a book written about an Admiral Cochrane.
Unfortunately, my father loaned it to a cousin some years past who
refuses
to
return it. I'm not sure if during the attempts of the English to get
rid
of
the Irish if that is when the Scotish Cochrane's went to Ireland or not.
If
you have more info from grandparents please pass it on.
Please send future mail to

My name is Debra Cochran Goe. My family immigrated from Ireland in
1830,
moved to Canada, then settled in western New York State and
western Pennsylvania. Some family members originally spelled our last
name
as Cochrane. Most shortened it to Cochran.
I have been told our family came from a southern seaport in Ireland
and that many family members are still there.
I would interested in exchanging information with you concerning
our families' backgrounds. We may have relatives in common.
You can contact me at dkgoe(a)hotmail.com
I now live in Virginia, approximately 30 miles south of Washington,

I didn't recall if I already sent this. Sorry if a repeat-- Bonnie

In Vol. 1 of the Trinity Parish Vestry Books, 1728-1787, there is a
record
of birth for Edward Cockram on 7 June 1748, s/o Nathan and Sarah
Cockram.
I am trying to determine if these three were the same who appeared in
Halifax County, Virginia, by 1764. Nathan Cockram died about 1778 in
Henry
County, Virginia and Sarah later married William Harris. Edward Cockram
had
legal troubles with Harris over the settlement of Nathan's estate.
Edward
died in Franklin County, Virginia in 1816.
Anyone familar with this family, or Cockrams in Charles County,
Maryland, I
would appreciate hearing from you.

This is not a hoax! The little girl featured on this web page is my grand
daughter. Due to a series of circumstances, she will be placed into a
foster home if her father can not be found to determine paternity.
Please forward this url http://www.angelfire.com/fl3/missingdad/index.html
to everyone you know.
We are praying that someone will come forth with some information that will
lead us to my son, her father.
Thank you.
Hi. We have a list of folks researching COCHRANE/COCHRAN/COCKRAN names
(& FOWLER and related families) on onelist.com. It is called
COCHRANES-OF-CALVERT and we are mainly trying to amass info on the Wm. &
Jas.
COCHRANE families of Calvert Co who showed up there ca. 1850. They were
"supposedly" from IRE but no proof at all. Anyway, we too, are most
interested in the
COCHRAM variation of the name. To join-

Also rootsweb has COCHRANE and COCHRAN lists. I moderate the COCHRANE-L
and to subscribe, mailto:COCHRANE-L-REQUEST@rootsweb.com & just write
the
single word SUBSCRIBE in both the subject and body areas. Nothing else
or it will bounce.
Hope this helps. I am posting to Chas.Co & CalvCo lists in case anyone
else is interested
in COCHRANE research in the area. Bonnie Treon gatreon(a)vnet.net
PS-all our lists have "searchable" archives too.

REVOLUTIONARY WAR MUSTER ROLLS
Among the defining conflicts in the history of the United States, the
Revolutionary War touched the lives of millions of people. This database
is
a
collection of records kept by the National Archives that list men who
fought for
the colonies during the war. Transferred from microfilm to electronic
format by
Direct Data Capture, it contains the names of nearly 426,000
individuals.
Each
record provides the soldier's name, company and unit of service.
Additionally,
rank information is included along with box and roll numbers in the
National
Archives to aid the researcher in obtaining copies of the original
record.
The
records in this database were taken from rolls in the National Archives
numbered
RG94 and M860.
