1821 Land Deeds show my Alexander and William as the only two in Guernsey
while others like a Hugh Cochran, move into the other parts of the state.
Alexander is recognized as a merchant from PA who served in the Revolution,
while his son William served in the War of 1812 and his son Jacob was in
the War Between the States.

Alexander and William were the ONLY 2 Cochrans in this town at this time
and the land records indicate it was Military Land grants.

!WilliAM HENDERSON: Guernsey County History: He was the oldest child of John
and Martha (Long) Henderson. His Grandparents were William and Agnes
Henderson
who came from County Down, Ireland in 1758, they settled in Lewistown,
Mifflin
Co., Pennsylvania. William was a major in the War of 1812. He was a
blacksmith
and made his own sword. "Roster of Ohio Soldiers in War of 1812" Page 243,
Vol.
Colonel John DeLong first Regiment Ohio Militia Maj. Wm. Henderson.
Last name also spelled Clendennin
!Nancy Ann Clendennin: Guernsey County History: One cold winter's day the
indians, being hungry, came to the little home in Oxford Township. Not
knowing
what she should do, she gave them an apron full of fresh baked bread. In a
few
days a deer was left on the Porch. She was educated in Harrisburg, Dauphin
Co., Pennsylvania, I assume she was probably born there.
She came to Guernsey Co., Ohio in 1806 with her husband and Children. She
was
the first Teacher in Guernsey Co., Ohio.
I've "rescued" an old photograph of Mr. & Mrs. COCHRAN and Emma which was
taken at the Holland Studio in Champaign, IL. The photograph appears to
have been taken in the 1870's or 1880's with the couple appearing to be in
their 40's with Emma likely about 7 years old. I'm hoping to locate someone
from this COCHRAN Family so that the photograph can be returned to their
care. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be,
please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
