Well, I hope so Richard though I have to say yDNA testing on my line has been somewhat disappointing in that we have several people who seem to be related but the family history is missing.
Good luck anyway.
John

None taken, John! :)
I am doing my best to get the branches of our family to take 111 marker DNA tests (I now have a record that includes 35 Cochran(e) descendants (both male and female) born in Ireland that went to the USA from 1846 to the turn of the century) and hope that someday we'll have an adequate genetic basis for making further relationship claims with our Irish brethren!

I should, perhaps, add that I do not imply any impropriety here. Simply that a tenant's child bore the name of the landlord as a mark of respect, almost certainly mutual. This was not a feudal relationship but one based on trust and decency. I would imagine if you had to have a landlord, the McCausland's would not be a bad choice (better no landlord, of course, which is why they were all bought out).

Message Board Post:
Hi Nikki,
My grandmother, Lillian Alberta Cochran was your great, great grandfather, Edward Cochran's sister.
Hazel, Blanche, Benjamin and Lillian F. Cochran were the children of Edward Cochran and Bessie Kibbee. In 1890, my grandmother was placed in the Gilbert Home at the age of 6. I did come across a census that listed Hazel, Blanche, and Benjamin there also, I don't recall if I saw their sister Lillian as well, Id have to go back thru my records. This would have been several years after my grandmother was there, maybe 1910 or 1920 census.
Your post is two years old, so you may have this information already, but it's nice to connect.
