My cochran family came from Clarion county, around the town of Rimersburg. If yours comes from the same place, we may have a connection. James Cochran had, at least one son named Thompson P. Cochran. Thompson had three sons. They were all born and raised in the area. Their names were- William, Herbert, George.
Contact me if you think we have a connection.

I'm hoping that one of you more experienced Cochran researchers can help get me refocused. I have been searching for
my grandmother Maud COCHRAN's heritage for literally years without success and I don't know where to turn next. There
are obviously some sources I'm overlooking.
The first record I have of Maud COCHRAN is the 1900 St Louis census where she shows up married to my grandfather Edgar
DAVIS for 1 year. It also shows her birth date of 20 May 1880 IN. The next place I find her is on the birth
certificate for my father in 1909. They were living in St Claire Co IL at the time and were still there in the 1910
census and when Maud died in 1913. Her death certificate indicates her father was John but mother was unknown. It also
indicates place of birth as Terre Haute. She is buried in SS Peter and Paul cemetery but not in a family plot.
There is a 1 month old Maud in the 1880 IN census but I can't verify that it's her. My grandfather spent almost his
entire life in MO as far as I know. No reason to believe he ever went to IN. I can find no record of a marriage
anywhere I've looked nor can I find any possibilities for her parents living in St Louis, St Claire Co or anywhere
nearby. Frankly, I'm beginning to think she may have been hatched rather than born. I'd appreciate any ideas on
where/how to proceed.
George

I am looking for ancestors of Elias Cochran, born 1826 in either Ohio or Kentucky. He married Nancy Henderson in Brown County Ohio in 1847. He had 8 children with 4 wives, moved to Missouri in 1870 and died there around 1900. If anyone has any info about his ancestors or family, please email me. I seem to have hit a brick wall concerning his parents or siblings.

I have traced my Cochran lineage back to (5great grandfather) William Cochran, son of Alexander, who died March 21, 1831. I do not have his place of death. He married Elizabeth McClain in 1794. She died 9/10/1841. They are the parents to(my direct ancestor) John Cochran, born 12/7/1798 married to Catharine Larsons in 1822, and died in Limestone, Clarion, PA on 9/18/1866. John's siblings were Alexander(b.7/12/1797 d.9/21/1850) James (b. 9/22/1799, d.9/24/1824) Samuel (b. 10/9/1802, d.8/10/1873 in Michigan) William(b.2/5/1805 d. 12/25/1859 in Mt. Vernon, OH) Joseph(b.2/18/1807 d.9/19/1871 in Brookville, PA) David (b.2/15/1809, d. 9/19/1876 in Mt Vernon, OH) Annie (b. 3/17/1811 d.2/20/1884 in West Virginia. There is record of what appears to be this family (father William with seven sons and one daughter) living in Armstrong County, PA on the 1800,1810,1820,1830 census. Any connections you can offer would be greatly appreciated. bjcmanley(a)gmail.com

Have your contacted the Armstrong Co., PA Historical Society and Genealogy
Library? My husband and I visited the library a few years ago. A volunteer
found a letter that had been sent about the surname he was looking for. They
found the letter and my husband contacted the man who happened to be his
cousin. Even putting a query in their newletter might help. Just a
suggestion.
Here is their website:
