Yes it is very exhausting to find family only to be back at square one!!! I have found so many people and records, but it is so easy to find someone who is deceased. It is however, very difficult to find someone who is living! So I am sure we will uncover some things along the way. It is so good to find people!!!!!

My Cochran Family moved from Paisley Scotland in 1842 to Victoria Australia. I believe a branch of the family moved to Canada . The original family in Australia lived in the Ballarat area where my cousins still live .
Maybe there is a connection somewhere, I am finding it interesting as to how far people have travelled in that period of time. I find it exhausting on a 22 hour flight from Australia to England. A flight takes 4 hours from the East Coast of Australia to the West Coast, then we start our overseas flight.

Thanks. I have talked to the Knox Cty Ind clerk's office and they have no marriage record. Also some say they were married in Greene, Cty Ind, but they also show no record.
I've tried Ouachita Parish, La. too and Newton & Jasper Cty's in Texas. I think you have the right idea that the
records are in a Church, but where? Also someone has got to have proof that Martin Baty Cochran was their son. I also show their 1st son John Lewis being born 9 months after their July 1827 marriage in Mar 1828 in Ouachita Parish, La. In Newton Cty, Texas records start at 1850, and Jasper Cty, Texas records prior to 1850 were distroyed in a Court House fire. If we have a copy of the Glas "Amos" Cochran Bible out there then it has the recorded marriages. Terry

I show Joseph Cochran and Elizabeth Lewis married 29 Jul 1827 in Knox County, IN. Indiana marriage records for that time period may have been filed with a church if they are not in the courthouse. You might want to check http://www.indgensoc.org website under either Knox County or surrounding counties.

Hello! I need some help, as I'm trying to find written proof that Joseph Sidney Cochran married Elizabeth Lewis in July 1827. Also that they had a child Martin Baty Cochran, born Sept 1831. I know that there is a Cochran Family Bible somewhere that has all this writtten in it. I cannot find any birth records or marriage records either. All I have is the 1850 Census and that is not the proof I need.
Please Advise,
Terry Cochran (in Texas)

Hi! My name is Terry Cochran. The Cochran family that I'm part of are
ancestors
of Glass Cochran. My ggg grandfather was Joseph Sidney Cochran from
Ohio who
settled in Newton Cty Texas in 1832 with his family and two brothers.
I'm sure
that all Cochran's ancestors came from Ireland. So we are all distanly
related
in some way up the family tree. I'm curious about your Cherokee
background.
Could you please give me some history about it. My g grandmother was
Lucinda
"Shorter" Henderson born in Rutledge, Grainger Cty, Tenn. and she was
said to be
part Cherokee too.

Edgar L. Cochran would have d. in Oregon I believe. After his "early" death Edith, I believe, married a Coffman.

I am looking for information on this family. I have some records showing him in Gallatin County in 1829. The document showed him selling land in Christian County KY to John Henson. These land transfer documents are witnessed by children Matthew Cochran and Malinda Cochran. Garland Moore from Todd County KY was given power of attorney on this transaction. Garland married daughter Mary (Polly) Cochran in Todd County in 1823.
Where did John come from? When was be born/died and where?
Who was his spouse?
Other children?
Thank you.
Jim
