This is a picture of Jim Cochran and Elvira (Fannie) Malone Cochran. My great-grandfather Allie Bennie Cochran is standing directly above Jim Cochran. His wife Rhoda is standing next to him holding the baby and my grandmother Inez is the little girl with her hand in her mouth. I belive the little girl next to her is my great aunt Mamie. I do not know who the others are in the picture, but I assume they are Allie Bennie's siblings. I have a book with D. Talmadge Cochran's picture in it, so I'll try to scan it and post it or send it to you. My cousin has this same picture except it is intact. Hopefully I'll get a copy one of these days. I hope you recognizd some faces in this photo.

Maurice William Cochran (my grandfather) was born 4/13/1893 I THINK in Missouri, and died in Aransas Pass or maybe Corpus Christi, Texas May 5, 1982. His father was William Cochran (middle initial escapes me at this moment). William deserted the family when my grandfather was very young, and so the information line seems to have ceased. I want to find out more about him. Can you help?

You should be able to get a copy of his death certificate which might have
the information you need, if anyone knew the names of William's parents when
he was buried. Sometimes they do know and sometimes they don't and sometimes
they used nicknames :(

I am not sure if you are still monitoring this email or not.........but form one direct decedent of Samuel Cochran to another, I thought I would add a branch to your tree. Sean Cochran married Terri Atash in 2001. In 2005 on January 19th they had a daughter, Khatereh (Katey) Linnea Cochran. As usual I am a day late and dollar short...how do we get from Samuel to Peter? Is it James?
Take care,
Sean

Hi Jami I'm the wife of deceased John Dale Cochran, Sr. son of Walter Hiram Cochran and Lillian Beatrice Rich Cochran. Our Walter Hiram Cochran is the son of Albert and Myrtle, he passed away in 1958 of congestive heart failure due to rheumatic fever as a child. I don't have any information on A.W. Cochran the senior, but do know that Albert and Myrtle are buried in Texas.
Lillian Cochran did tell me that she and 'Tex' Walter Hiram Cochran visited his mother and dad in Texas many times.
I'd love to hear from you,
Dolly

My mom has a house about 30 minutes from Cape Girardeau, so I suppose you are pretty close to her. I live in Lake St. Louis and don't get to see my Alabama relatives very often. So far I have verified the direct line from my Levi T. up to Robert Cochran (Sarah) - 1781. Unfortunately (maybe fortunately, lol), the internet only gives you so much information. I would love to see actual family records that could provide more information. I think an edit on the book now would be welcome; do you think? I don't want to step on anyone's toes or criticize, but I am a history major at UMSL and all of this completely intrigues me! (Although I did return to school after my kids got older, better late than never.) Anyway, looking forward to continued correspondence. If you would rather use personal emails, let me know.
Janet

Janet, Your Levi Thomas Cochran is my dad's brother!! That makes him my uncle. Amanda is my 1st cousin, as well as Thomas, Tressie and all their other siblings. Small world, isn't it. My Levi Thomas is your Levi Thomas' grandfather. Don't give up, lol, it gets a lot more confusing. If I can help in any way to sort out the tree for you, just let me know. Iva Dell's daughter gave a lot of her material to my brother, Phillip, after Iva Dell passed away. By the way, I live in S.E. MO. Barbara

No, I haven't attended any of the Cochran reunions. Some of the book is a little confusing, but I have been able to structure the "tree" a little better with this website. My mother - Mattie Faye Persell - is actually living in Tennessee at the moment, helping to care for Thomas Cochran, her uncle, brother of Amanda Cochran Persell. His father was Levi Thomas. You are absolutely right about the number of connections. Its astounding!
