Butts County , just East of Griffin, has many of my Cochran ancestors.
I see some connection to the name Allie Bennie Cochran (possible Benjamin
Cockram d. 1816, of Morgan Co., Ga.) and the name James , which is prevalent
in the my Cochran files.
William 'Bill" Cochran, grandson of Benjamin, moved from Morgan to Butts ca
1850, is the progenitor of my Cochran ancestors in Butts.

I think we may have the same ancestors; however, some of my dates vary. I got these dates for the Marion County Alabama Website - Goldmine Cemetary data. My grandmother's grandparents were Jim Cochran (tombstone states Rev. J.E. Cochran Jan. 23, 1853 - May 25, 1929) and Elvira Fannie Malone (tombstone states A.E. Cochran Dec. 28, 1857 - March 26, 1921. They had 2 children that I am aware of - my great-grandfather Allie Bennie Cochran and D.Talmage Cochran. My great-grandfather was born in Griffin, Georgia in about 1883 or 1884. What do you think?

My Elizabeth Cochran has brothers named Newton, William, Benjamin, Sisters
named Amanda, Mahala. They are mentioned in William's Will. We connect
Elizabeth to our Lewis Mathews through the family Bible that we have. Also I have
found all the other family members graves in the community, including Nancy
Williams wife. She is buried at the Euharlee Pres. Church cemetery outside of
Rome Ga. They came the Floyd and Bartow Co Ga. between 1850 and 1860. The
family is in Abbleville in 1860, and bought land here in 1858..

Perhaps you could see if my ancestors are related or identified in this
book. John Cochran (b 1803) emigrated (from Donegal, Ireland) to the US in
1825 with wife Ann and daughter Jane. They first settled in Ohio and later
(1841) in Glasgow, Iowa (Jefferson County). In John's obituary it suggests
that Ann's maiden name was Love.
Thank's for any assistance.

Grace,
Find someone and have them check to see if your Cochrans are in the book.
So many people have been disappointed when they spent the money only to find
their Cochrans were not in the book. I have a real problem with people who
publish books advertising on a free list serve.
