Dear Linda,
I own a copy of the History of the Allison Family by Leonard Allison Morrison. Morrison has the genealogy of the Allisons and Morrisons of Lanarkshire in Chapter 3. Please contact me privately and we can discuss how I can get the info to you.

Hi Mary,
I have been working on Scotlandspeople website and noted that Allison comes into play with Jean Allison who married Alexander Morrison in Avondale. Her father was John Allison who married Helen Lawson in1783. At one point it looks like Catherine Allison Morrison has same parent as John-James. Everything occured in Avondale in these families. Does anything ring a bell and also who has the book of Allisons? Thanks, Linda

Did you ever find Marlene? I know her, a long time ago, she is alive and well. She lives in Overland Park, KS. And yes, she was indeed Mrs. America. The new pageant from 25 years ago is owned by a different organization than the original Mrs. America pageant.

For those researching this family, check "Historical Papers of Franklin
County and the Cumberland Valley, Pennsylvania" Unk. Unk. 1947. Pages
104-121.
Page 104 - Written Oct. 30, 1930 by unk.
It states that John Coughran - variously spelled Chochrane, Cochrane, and
Cochran - was an early settler and a neighbor of pioneer John Wallace....
It also states that his wife is Eleanor Baird. In describing the farm they
lived on it states:
There is a burial ground on this farm remembered only by the older
people as Cochran's graveyard, but for many years it has been forgotten and
neglected. Sixteen bodies are said to have been buried there, but only
three markers remain to show where the graves are, and of these, the
inscription is partly legible on but one; it reads as follows:
"Here lies the body of Eleanor Coughran who departed this life the 28th day
of February, A.D. 1791, aged 74 years.
It also states in a verse that there is one son and a grandson buried beside
her (no names given).
This is quite an informative article on these people. I have it typed in
the computer if any one would like to have it please email me.
Their daughters that are mentioned are: Eleanor married Joseph Junkin and
Mary married William Findley.
It also only briefly mentions a son, John Cochran.
Were there other children?

All,
I have a photocopy of a transcription of the contents of the family pages of the Daniel Henderson Cochran Bible which was completed in 1938. My gg grandfather was Thomas Whitfield Cochran who was married to Louisa Emmaline McWhorter Ferguson. They had three children, Mattie, Eupha Leon (my ggrandfather) and Estelle. If anyone has information on the Thomas Whitfield line or Daniel Henderson line in general, that would be great. Hope this is helpful to someone.
I re-typed the transcription into a word document. The information does not explain who was related to whom. Below is what I have:
Reproduction of the transcription of the Daniel Henderson Cochran Bible. What follows below is an accurate reproduction of the transcription originally done by Laura Lee Satterfield in 1938. The only alteration is of three very obvious typographical errors.

EXPLANATION OF THE DANIEL H. COCHRAN BIBLE
The Daniel Henderson Cochran Bible is in the Possession of Mrs. Strauther Gaines who lives at Dewy Rose, Elbert Co. Ga. Daniel H. Cochran resided in Anderson County, S.C. in 1848 and moved to Carnesville, Ga. Tradition says he was born in Ireland and came to America with his father when he was 4 years old. His Father was a doctor and was either John or James Cochran. J. M. Cochran mentioned in the Bible record married in Hart County 21st Dec. 1869 L.L. Parker.
State of Georgia
County of Hart
I, Laura Lee Satterfield, of the said state and county, do hereby certify that the above two pages of the Cochran Bible Record are a true copy of the records found in this bible. I have compared the record and found them accurate. The writing is beautiful and easy to read. The bible was published by M. Carey, No. 121 Chestnut Street Philadelphia in 1815.

Laura Lee Satterfield

For years I have searched for immigration records for my ggrandfather, Thomas F. Cochran, who came from "County Cork" according to family legend. I have so little information to go on, but have searched all nearby courthouses for his application for citizenship with no luck. Because I plan to go to Ireland next year (2008) and would like very much to contact some long lost relatives there, I am at a loss as to how to go about acquiring the names of these relatives.
I first find Thomas Cochran in Bedford County, Virginia in May, 1850, working on the Virginia Tennessee Railroad so he obviously immigrated prior to 1850. He married and stayed in this area until his death in 1889. His middle son was named John.
Just recently I found the name Aurelius Cochran in a Lynchburg, VA city directory, living in a house that Thomas Cochran's widow eventually moved into, which leaves me to believe there must have been some connection. No one in the family has ever heard of Aurelius Cochran.
Does anyone have Aurelius Cochran (born ca. 1870) married to Mattie ____ in their data base?
Any help would be appreciated.

All I know about this one is he served in Co. E, 2nd Reg., GA Volunteer Infantry, as a private. Enlistment I think was April 22, 1861 and death in a hospital in Richmond, VA on December 19, 1861. I havent linked him to my Cochran line, but I do have lots of connection to that area...grandfather Fred Andrew Cochran born Talking Rock, GA; his father James Jesse Cochran, and his father William Monroe Cochran. Counties include Fannin, Pickens, Gilmer, and possibly Murry Counties in GA. I too would love to know of this Civil War soldier's family as the area makes me wonder if he connects to my ancestors. Will share with anyone interested.
