Hi,
I would like to know more about John G. Cochran. Can you tell me about
his life? What kind of work did he do? Do you have any pictures???
I have been trying to connect my Tom Cothran (Cochran)to the Black River
Arkansas Cochrans for ever. He was listed in the 1850 census of
Lawrence County Arkansas just over the line from Jackson County
Arkansas. He was born 1814 in ILL. His father was born in AR.
His second wife was Rachel(Bracey????) And there were three children
Silas P. Cothran, Elvira and Hiram B. (my ggreatgrandfather). I don't
know who is first wife was.
Thomas married Penelope Huskey (Husketh)(third wife) and the last place
I find the family is in 1860 in Howell County, Missouri with additional
Children; Elizabeth and Luvicia. Hiram B. shows up in 1870 in Jackson
County IL with other Cochrans from Black River, AR. But I don't think
these are his parents.
Hiram married Isabelle Nancy Chidester in 1872 in Perry County, MO and
had three children Alice, Pearl and Henrietta (my grandmother).

I have a John Cochran who's father was Hugh. They lived in Westfield, NY in the late 1840's. John had a brother who was Robert. Robert died in 1851 in Dodge co., WI. John died in Westfield in 1853 and Hugh, the father died in 1870, but I can't confirm where yet. Don't know if this is the same as your John. My John Cochran was married to Elizabeth Telfair, and I don't know what became of her.
