I can't remember if I've ever posted to this list. If I have, I don't think it was recent. I'm researching my husband's Cochran line. I know his grandmother was Ellen Louise Cochran born in Birmingham in around 1919 (I am writing from memory on this). Her parents were Mary Alice Howard (daughter of Matthew Howard) and Robert Clayton Cochran. The only possible lead on Robert Cochran's line is that he was living very close to a Lonnie Cochran. I've traced Lonnie Cochran's line to Lowndes Co Alabama -- he was the son of William A Cochran and his first wife. William A. Cochran appears to be the son of George and Elizabeth Cochran. I believe Lonnie and Robert were brothers mainly because Lonnie lived so close to Robert. Robert would have been too old by the 1900 census to live at home, but Lonnie is 5 years younger and was still at home. I cannot find Robert Clayton Cochran on the 1900 census at all. I don't know where he is. I have other information on R.C. -- he rem!
arried later on to a woman called "Leafy". He is buried in the W. C. Cochran lot in Oakland (if memory serves me correctly). There are others buried here, but the confusion lies in the fact that I can't connect him to those who are buried in the same lot. Perhaps there is no connection. I don't know.
At any rate, if any of this rings a bell, I would love to hear from you. According to a military registration card -- Robert Clayton Cochran was born in AL March 14, 1883. He lived in Pratt City at the time of the registration in 1917. During this time, Lonnie Cochran was also living in Pratt City Alabama. He is listed as born Jan 9, 1888 in Mt. Willing Alabama. In 1917, he was listed as married with two children ages 2 & 3. ~ Mary

Family Reunion
Sunday August 6th 2006
11 am to 6pm
Sportsman's Club
Route 9
Gardiner, Maine
You are invited to a "Cousins" reunion
For the descendants and cousins of :
William & Almyra (Lyons) Peters
Cooledge & Lydia Jane (Marshall) White
Gabriel & Rachael (Cochran) Boullie (Bulley)
John W. & Sarah (Brackett) Suitter
Sponsored by Diana Mae Peters Hutchings
Come and meet your "cousins", Diana would like to have this become an annual event, so that we can get to know our heritage and extended families; before all of the "older generations" are gone and the second / third / fourth generations contacts are lost, because they did not know of each other.
The Sportsman's Club is just off the 295 Gardiner, Maine exit . There is plenty of room to park, a great area to socialize with other cousins, water access for your boats, swimming area for adults and children, a great area for children with indoor access if the weather is bad.
A computer and scanner will be available to those who want to access the family genealogy that I have - bring photos of family members and "ancestors" - many of us would like to share photos and would love to have copies of the photos you have.
Talk with other members of your family - if they did not receive an invitation let them know they are invited too, I just didn't have their address (or name).
Bring yourselves - your family your lunch and spend the day with us - grills will be available.
For further information you can contact:

Trying to locate the family of Jane Cochran who married John Hull on March
13, 1833 in Perry CO. Ohio. John Hull & Jane Cochran are my
GGGGrandparents. Would like to find marriage announcement from the
newspaper of that time. They lived in Clayton Township at the time of the
1850 census and were in Clayton Township, Woodford CO. Illinois by the time
of the 1860 census. This has been a brick wall since about 2000. Would
like to get past it so I can move on.

Shirley, there may be a link to our families, but at this time all I have is coincidence.
My gggrandfather was Andrew K. Cochran, b. 1811 in Mecklenberg Co., NC. He moved with his father Robert to NW Alabama abt. 1827. He named one of his sons, Levi Thomas Cochran. So, there are similar family names.
Good luck with your search.
