Does anyone know anything about the family of John Cochran and Elizabeth
Telfair from Westfield, NY in 1850. The little I know, if I have the correct
family, is that John died in 1853 at the age of 31 and is buried in the
Westfield cemetery. He was born in Ireland and married Elizabeth about 1847. I
would like to find out what happened to Elizabeth after John died and if there
were any children.
Again, if I have the correct family, John had a brother by the name of
Robert who was born in 1820 in Ireland. Robert married Eliza Ann Cochran
from another Cochran family.
John and Robert came from Ireland with their father, Hugh in about 1839
after Hugh's wife died.
Robert died in 1850 in Trenton Twp., Dodge Co., Wisconsin, shortly
after the family settled there. Robert and Eliza Ann had three children,
Margaret Elizabeth, Emmett and Byron James. Emmett died in 1853 in Dodge Co.,
Wisconsin as well. Margaret, Byron and their mother Eliza Ann later moved to
Mower Co., Minnesota and then to Deuel Co., South Dakota.
Eliza Ann's death notice states that she had 4 sisters and one brother
and that they were from Westfield, NY. Family stories have Eliza being born
around Pittsburgh, but I can find no proof of that. She apparently was
baptized at the Presbytarian Church in Westfield, NY in 1827 and became a member
in 1837. She married Robert in 1843. Family stories again have Robert and
Eliza Ann being married in Cochranton, Crawford Co., PA, but why would they
travel that far to be married if both families lived in the Westfield, NY area.
I haven't been able to locate anyof Eliza Ann's family. If anyone has
any clues, I would enjoy hearing from you.
Thanks
Jim Cochrane

I saw your message. I decided to write because I'm not having a great deal of luck. My great grandfather's name was Holden Jasper Cochran and he was born in KY. His second wife was Mary Jane Roark. They were married in Miller, MO in about 1860. My grandfather's name was Moses Theodore Cochran. Let me know if you have any on these names.
Thanks!!

I saw your message and decided to write. I don't know if there is a connection but the names are the same. My great grandfather was Holden Jasper Cochran born in TN. His second wife was Mary Jane Roark. There were married in Miller, MO in 1880. My grandfather's name is Moses Theodore Cochran. I can't find any thing on them. Let me know if you think there is a chance they are related.
My family name follows through a Crohorn and then to Cochran. I am
seeing with my family history that the Cochran name is the old spelling
for Crohorn. I know this is Cohorn, and my family name switches from
Cochran to Crohorn in the late 1700's. I am just wondering if this
Andrew Cohorn's history takes his name back to Cochran as well?
Thanks,
Jody Crawhorn
**my name has even changed further from Crohorn now to Crawhorn.
