I recently joined the Cockerham DNA ( and similarly pronounced surnames )
project and it showed results that has confirmed my belief that my
Benjamin
Cockram of Morgan Co. arrived
1806/7 d. 1815 was the same person as Benjamin Cockerham of Lunenburg and
Mecklenburg Counties, Va.
I matched 12 for 12 on the 12 marker test that were identical with
about 5 of the men with Cockerham surnames and 24 or 25 on the
25 marker test. Meaning same ancestor many(x10) centuries ago.

There is probably a connection to the Burton's and the Cockerham/Cochrans of Morgan Co. KY. My gggg grandfather was William Burton and I am a direct descendants to the Cockerham's of Wilkes Co. NC crowd who moved to Floyd Co. Ky which wound up being Owsley Co, then Morgan Co. KY. I have pretty strong evidence that William Burton moved to Morgan Co. from Indiana.

I suppose someone gets their jollies from making this story more personal. Parts of this story are true such as the dates. The real little drummer boy that died in Minn 1956 name was Albert Woolson not Charles Cochran. And Albert lived to be 109. We checked the Civil war records and the Minnesota Historical Society death records.
Have a great day and Keep smiling.
