Does anyone have any information on the Cochran families that settled around
Mecklenburg County, North Carolina in the 1700s. Thanks.

David,
I hope you are still around. Freeman Cochran was married to my great-grandfather's sister, Laura Walton (she had previously been married to a Hulen). I have a newspaper account of his trial if you are interested. I would like to find out whether they have any living descendants; I know there were two sons who I tracked into the early 1900s. My grandmother was always embarrassed by this incident and swore to her dying day her father had no sisters and the "Caw-horns" as she pronounced it were only neighbors.

Cheryl, this is in response to a very old post of yours. Do you have anything on a Cochran family that lived or owned land between Salina and Spavinaw Ok pre statehood? Land was called Cochran Prairie located in the Wickliffe Community as it is called now. Mayes Co. Hist. Book in the 70's has a family Henry C (Clay?) Cochran who was the first postmaster of Spavinaw I.T. that might be the right family. Need the time frame this family had the land to see if they homesteaded it or leased it out .Thank you.
Hello. I've just joined the list. I look forward to helping others in their genealogical quests as well as obtaining information.
I am seeking information about where my grandfather, James McSparron Cochran, settled after he emigrated to this country in 1885 or 1886.
He was born in Londonderry, Ireland on 8 March 1875.
His parents were Wilson Cochran and Jane McSparron. Jane was born in 1844 or 1845 and died 1 Jan in Duluth, MN.
James Cochran came to this country after the death of his father, Wilson Cochran.
His brothers and sisters were:
Wilson Montgomery Cochran, born 10 Apr 1873 in Londonderry, Ireland. He married Margaret L. Canning in 1901. He died 5 Oct 1935 in Duluth. He is listed on the 1920 and 1930 census documents as a postal worker.
David Cochran--no information.
Matilda Mary Cochran, born 4 Apr 1877 in Finlagen, Londonderry, Ireland.
I have found Wilson Montgomery Cochran and Matilda Mary Cochran on ancestry.com lists as being born in Londonderry, Ireland, but not James or David.
I know that James Cochran eventually settled in Duluth, Minnesota (I found him and his family on the 1930 census).
He may have lived in Hendrum, Minnesota or even in Canada after he emigrated to this country.
He married Margaret Ann McGregor in about 1910 or 1911. I have found her and her father, Edward McGregor, on North Dakota census records.
His children were born in Traill County North Dakota, Bohnsack Township:
James McSparron Cochran, born 1912
Maude McSparron Cochran, born 1914
Margaret Ann Cochran, born 13 Jan 1916
Alice Cochran, born 1918
They moved to Minnesota around 1920.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
