I am searching for information on both of my ggg-grandfathers who were named Hugh Cochran, and I believe both living in Chattauqua Co., near Westfield, NY in the early to mid 1800's. The one Hugh had 4 or 5 daughters and a son named John. John moved to Washington state in the later part of the 1800's. The four daughters, I know nothing about and would like to connect with their families. Sorry, I have no names. The other Hugh had two sons, and they lived in Westfield as well. One was Robert the other John. Robert was my gg-grandfather and I some info on him, but John is lost. I believe he died in 1853 in Westfield, NY. His wife's name was Elizabeth. He is buried in the Westfield, cemetery, but that is about all I know about him. I don't know if he had children. Would like to learn more about these two Cochran families. Jimmynj(a)aol.com. Thanks

COCHRAN, LOVELLA Lovella Cochran, beloved wife and mother, joined her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven, on October 21, 2003. She was preceded in death by her precious granddaughter, Adina Fuson. Lovella is survived by her husband, Rev. John W. Cochran; three children, Jan (Barry) Fuson, Dr. John (Carole) Cochran, and Judi (Andy) Reynolds; six grandchildren Dara (Larson) Lee, Barry Fuson, Jr., Andrea (Khary Espy) Cochran, Lyndsey (Kevin) Aldridge, Samantha and Emily Reynolds. Lovella was born on February 23, 1922 in Erick, Oklahoma, where she remained until college. She began her college years at Bethany Nazarene College in Oklahoma, and later transferred to Pasadena Nazarene College where she met her husband John. They married on February 15, 1942 and began a life of "unusual togetherness" for the next sixty-one plus years. John and Lovella partnered as a Nazarene pastor and wife for seventeen years in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico, while raising three children. They!
moved to California in 1961 where Lovella taught junior high and high school, primarily in Pasadena, for seventeen years. During those same years, she earned her Masters Degree, established a reading and math tutorial clinic with John, sent their children tocollege and helped them establish their own homes, and became a grandmother. After retiring from teaching they lived in Palm Springs, Bakersfield, and finally San Marcos, California. Though they traveled extensively in retirement, they were best friends to their "kids" and thoroughly loved and enjoyed by their "grand kids." Lovella will be remembered for her unshakable faith in Jesus Christ, her enthusiasm for life, and her unconditional love for her husband, family, and friends. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Escondido First Church of the Nazarene, 1555 S. Redwood, Escondido, CA 92033, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2003, with a reception following. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests !

You would be 1/128, if your 5th greatgrandmother was full blooded Cherokee.
7/8 woul be if someone's parents were full blooded and 3/4. That is one set of grandparents were both full blooded and the other set were 1 full blooded and one 1/2.
William Otho Cochran Jr. was born 7/7/1921 and lived in a home (as of 1952), in district 255 (map 32 parcel 5), R-2 Maysville GA, which is now Yarbrough-Ridgeway Road in Maysville.
He was apparently the son of William Otho Cochran Jr., born 8/6/1899 in Jackson Co GA, and this gentleman was apparently the son of William Otho Cochran who was born in 1873 in Banks County. This William's dad could have been any number of the William Cochrans in the area around the mid-1800's.
My question is about the home that the 1921 William Jr. lived in. It is my understanding that this house is the "old Cochran Place", possibly built between 1870-80 by one of the Cochrans. The 1921 Will reportedly raised 17 children here.
We are trying to date the house, but there was a Jackson County Courthouse fire around 1940 that destroyed the records of deeds. Any suggestions for figuring out the date of construction or original owner of this home? Or does anyone have any information about this Cochran family?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.
Sarah

Karen, in the 1790's there were two Cochran families living in Fleming County, one descended from Robert Cochran of Cumberland County PA, which is my line. They married into the Fisher, Williamson, Hutton, Finney and Carrick families. This line does not have a James Cochran.
The other descended from Robert Cochran who probably came from Chester County PA. His descendants married into the Sousley, McAtinney families and that is your line. I have not researched this line except to separate it from my Fleming County Cochran family. I hope this helps.
