We have limited information on a David Scott Cochrun that married Phobie Coy. I show eleven children with the same names as you listed. He was the younger brother of my wife's gg grandfather.
Will be glad to share.

I am sending the book out this morning to the 2nd person who ask for it. Many people responded and I just took them in order of reply. The first lady ask for a look up to make sure if this was her group and it wasn't so the 2nd person got it. By the way, so everyone will know the price was $10 plus postage. I would like to encourage everyone who goes out to junk and antique stores to be on the look out for such things and pass them on.
The Cochrans who have contacted me are a great group and I wish all of you happy hunting!

I am not a Cochran decendant, but am a fellow genealogist. While rummaging in a junk store I found and purchased a book called "A Cochran Clan" by Iva Dell Cochran. published in 1977. I will be happy to sell it at nominal cost to any Cochran researcher who needs it. The book looks well researched and starts with William Cochran in Scotland. It looks like the bulk of it covers Robert Cochran and his "Twenty Issue". Hope this is great for some one.

Has anyone in the Cochran clan started a DNA data bank? I have been helping
with a DNA data bank on my paternal granmother's family and it is quite
interesting.
Since I am a direct male decendant of the Cochran name I would be interesting
in participating in such a study if there is one going on. It is an
excellent way of determining if different clans are related.
Go to this web site if you want to learn more about DNA testing.

Searching for information on the following couple:
Zachariah Phillips married Mary Cochran 5/25/1831 Perry Co, AL
Zachariah Phillips is my GGG Grandfather and his father is STB Zachariah Phillips. I have traced my Zachariah through census records from 1850 on. There is a ZC Phillips in the 1840 census but it could be his father or another relative. I believe Zachariah was married several times and am searching for answers. If you know anything about this family, please contact me.

I am not sure if we are related (hope so!), but my Dad's parents are Jack Leslie Cothran and Frieda Hayden Cothran. His paternal grandparents are Andrew Jackson Cothran and Mary Cothran. He has one brother, Charles.
I have been told that the Livingston County Cothran's (and Cothron's) are not kin to the Between the Rivers Cothran's. We now live in Livingston County, and none of the Cothron's there are kin to us. The Cherokee don't really figure blood quantum--a common ancestor on one of the tribal rolls is all it takes to claim that heritage. I would love to know if Elizabeth is my kinswoman, too. Thanks for the message.

Mary,
I tried to post a reply but I'm not sure if it went through or not so I will post it again. I do not have a Rachel in my file but I have not had time to enter all the Cochran's in on my family tree maker yet because it is my largest file. I will email some other family members and see if they have anything. Since my family also came from Scioto Co, Portsmouth, around this time I would think there is a good chance that there is a match. I will let you know. Do you know of any other names Rachel would have gone by? You can email me at AKemen(a)cinci.rr.com
Take care,
Amanda

The correct name of the book is Chronicles of the Cochrans by Ida Cochran Haughton. The copyright for "volume second" is 1925 which I understand would still place it under copywrite. That means you won't or at least shouldn't find copies of it online. "Volume one" which I've never seen was published in 1915.
According to the FHL catalog, volume 2 is available on microfilm.
The book has no index and no documentation. I've had a copy for years and find it hard to follow. The portion of the page covering my Cochrans contains several inaccuracies. Since that information was provided by my grandparents, most likely the muddling was done by the author and not by my grandparents. I've also found other statesments in the book that I think may be incorrect.
The book seems to have been made available to those who contributed information. I assume they had to pay for it. A copy was probably in the home libraries of a number of Cochran families of the 1920s.
