Myrna Clarissa Cochran-Silvis was my great-grandmother.
She had 2 daughters and 4 sons. Her 4 sons are still living. Most live near Eldred, PA. or Moody Hollow or Smethport. All Small towns close together. My grandmother, her oldest Daughter, Gladys Auroa Silvis-Moses, is buried next to her in Moody Hollow Cemetary. My grandparents alone have 24 grand-children and 3? great-grandchildren. And the rest of grandma's brothers have large families also. I will have to contact one of my aunts to see who has all the important dates. Gladys passed away in 2000. Her sister Adeline passed away a few yrs earlier. I hope this keeps your search going. good luck and Happy New Year Clarissa Waters

Hello, my maiden name is Cochran and we are from Fleming Co., Kentucky. I am trying to find any relatives out there. Thomas is a prominate name in my family. Would like to share info to see if related. Thank you.
Was looking through info on the web and caught a bit of info on Cheadle Cochran who was in Fayette, Ga in 1827. He received land, was on a Sheriff's sale and was a Commissioner in 1826.
Is anyone researching this individual? I think he must be the father of my Elizabeth Cochran.
Thanks, Nancy nbhamil(a)msn.com

I am searching for my grandfather: Aaron Ritch. The only info I have on him is that he is believed to have been adopted from an indian reservation in Oklahoma. At some point he ended up in Arkansas and married my grandmother Mary Francis Dardy. He did have 2 full blooded cherokee daughters before he married my grandmother. Aaron died approx. in 1952 at age 69. I would love any info anyone may have on any of these family names. Please email direct to: shutterbug26(a)hotmail.com

Hi Ruth,
This could be same Joseph. I had disregarded the Cochran-Copeland marriage because of the middle initial M. But, I have census image from 1900 that could be Susanna. It says married 11 years, which would be about right. Do you know if there were children? My email address is pbaird622(a)mindspring.com. Email privately and we can compare without cluttering the list. Thanx & and Merry Christmas.

He married Susannah Copeland, my Gr-Mother on 1-30-1890, she died around 1903, He was married a few times, I don't have much info on him. The info I have has him married to Alabama Mooney on 5-12-1875 [J.M.C]. also married again 1916, had more children. I have no info on them. Could this be the same Joe Cochran? Looking foward to hearing from you..............Ruth Cochran Munroe
I am looking for any descendants of the Augustus Cochran who married a Nancy
Hasty in the early part of the 1800s in Harris County, Georgia. They were in
the 1850 Harris County, Georgia, Census. At some point they may have moved
over to Alabama. I am sorry that I don't have the specific date for the
marriage in front of me.
Any information about this family will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Pat

Ken,
Thank you for the reply. Since you mentioned the Clark surname, possibly you may have a clue as to the connection in this case.
Milton G Cochran appears on 1920 census for Walker Co, Dora Twp, AL in the household of Will J Clark (other census years have him as James W Clark). Milton is enumerated as "soninlaw" and below him is a Laura (could be Louise - hard to read) Cochran - Daughter. Others in that household were Leala, b. Abt 1903-AL, Dau; Mattie, b. Abt. 1892-AL, (wife, but not old enough to be Laura or Leala's birth mother), Modena, b. Abt 1913-AL, dau, (I have found her to also be Thurza Modena), Dorthy, b. Abt 1915-AL, dau, and Monroe, b. Abt 1918-AL, son.
I know that Susie (Sprouse) Cochran and her second husband, John Henry Heaps were in Dora, Walker County, AL, in 1913, as one of their sons was born there. I also know that Milton Cochran was in Royalton, Franklin Cnty, IL in May, 1923, as that is when he and my grandmother married. My speculation is: There is a death record for a Laura Cochran in Walker County, March 5, 1921. I do not have the record, so do not know if this is the same person as on 1920 census.
Not related to above, my maiden name is Clark...but only to extent my Grandfather was adopted. I was really having some chuckles when I found the 1920 census with the Clark/Cochran household...LOL.
Thanx again,
Pam Baird

The only apparent direct connection I have in my Cochran/e data base with your family is the mar. of Arthur to Susie Sprouse, Dec. 25, 1895, De Kalb Co., Ala. and the mar. of J C Cochran to Alabama Mooney. This is information you most likely already have. I have several other De Kalb Co. Cochran marriages in the data base. However, individual records are added to my files on a weekly basis and I will notify you if I find anything of interest. I have added the info you supplied. I am always happy to search my records for Cochran/e individuals or families. Also for the common surnames of Clark, Moore, Taylor, Walker and Ward.

I am looking for the following De Kalb County, Alabama residents. Arthur Cochran, (b. 1876, Ft Payne) died steel mill accident in Ft Payne, Jun 1902. Arthur and his sister Alice are listed on 1880 census (they are spelled Arther & Alace) as children of Joseph (b. 1853, GA) & Alabama Cochran (b. 1853, AL). I found marriage record for JC Cochran & Alabama Mooney (Ft Payne, De Kalb, AL), however I cannot locate either after 1880. Also unable to locate Joseph Cochran prior to the marriage record, 1875. There is another Cochran living next door to my Grandfather, Milton G and his mother Susie Cochran (nee Sprouse) in 1900 De Kalb census (Arthur is not listed with them)....Alice is in that other Cochran household as well as 8 other daughters. I am unable to read the female head of household's given name. Anybody recognize any of these Cochrans?. Thanks. Pam Baird

If census records are correct, George W. Cochran was born between 1770 and 1780 in Virginia. (He also was described by his descendants as a "native of the Old Dominion, Virginia, and of German descent.")
He had children with an unknown woman:
Sarah Cochran (2 Oct. 1799-8 Nov. 1865)
George Cochran (7 Aug. 1807-12 Apr. 1887)
Nancy Cochran (10 Feb. 1812-20 Sept. 1896)
Nathan Cochran (abt 1815-)
Others?
When his daughter was born in 1812 they lived in Pickaway County, Ohio. He has been described as being one of the "pioneers" of Pickaway Co., OH.
1830 Census: Jackson, Pickaway County, Ohio.
He married Mary Sunderland 1836 in Allen Co., Ohio.
He probably died before 1840 as in the 1840 census his wife Mary appears to be living with his son (younger George) in Fulton County, Illinois.
I'd love any information.
